Under-run bars have their uses. I remember them being brought in, some horrific injuries before.

Can you imagine how soul destroying it must be to have dreams of being a journalist and end up covering stuff like that?

Mansfield bar.

It's time lorries paid for damage like this, should also fork out for damaged verges etc. It's just rubbish driving and the sort of laziness that ends up getting someone serious injured or worse.

It's Cornwall. The alternative is farming or a life on the dole.

To be pedantic,
I'd argue the lorry caught the roundabout
tongue out

It seems only fair:- Those who manage to kill other items of street furniture such as traffic lights / signs usually get billed for them, which can be quite a hefty insurance claim from what I've heard!

That just looks like it needs 1 person and a big hammer to knock the bricks back down. But I guess they will be requiring a road compliance study, roundabout integrity survey followed by a consultation followed by a days road closure and 15 man team to work on it.

exactly - it'll be:

warning signs up for a week prior to work starting
3 days to dismantle all the brickwork
3/4 days to put all the brickwork back again
a few days to apply paint
a few more to let it dry
another day or 3 to get H&S to sign-off
warning signs to stay in situ for another few weeks after work is actually finished

They'll budget one day and the rest will be at double time.

Do journalists actually cover stuff like this though?
I thought the bottom layer of general public who have the time and small mindedness to photo & comment on this sort of trivia did that via twitter. The news agencies just cut / paste it.

I hate those raised roundabouts. Mostly because many years ago I managed to beach my Saxo 1.0 (50bhp you know) on one the first time I experienced lift off oversteer. Most embarrassing. If I had a lorry I’d smash them all up too.

Same situation has happened to a roundabout near me. I'd show you on Google Maps but the picture is too old and has a different RAB on (One that doesn't suffer from these problems because it's too low..)
