Under-run bars have their uses. I remember them being brought in, some horrific injuries before.
Mansfield bar. It's time lorries paid for damage like this, should also fork out for damaged verges etc. It's just rubbish driving and the sort of laziness that ends up getting someone serious injured or worse.

To be pedantic, I'd argue the lorry caught the roundabout

It seems only fair:- Those who manage to kill other items of street furniture such as traffic lights / signs usually get billed for them, which can be quite a hefty insurance claim from what I've heard!

That just looks like it needs 1 person and a big hammer to knock the bricks back down. But I guess they will be requiring a road compliance study, roundabout integrity survey followed by a consultation followed by a days road closure and 15 man team to work on it.

Only one day? warning signs up for a week prior to work starting
3 days to dismantle all the brickwork
3/4 days to put all the brickwork back again
a few days to apply paint
a few more to let it dry
another day or 3 to get H&S to sign-off
warning signs to stay in situ for another few weeks after work is actually finished

Can you imagine how soul destroying it must be to have dreams of being a journalist and end up covering stuff like that?
"Over live to Alan Partridge who is at the roundabout to give us the latest"I thought the bottom layer of general public who have the time and small mindedness to photo & comment on this sort of trivia did that via twitter. The news agencies just cut / paste it.
