It'll be just to highlight fox hunting which traditionally has hunts taking place on Boxing Day.

Bit of an odd analogy. If that's the best he can come up with I wouldn't rate him as a QC. Also, no-one cares.

Sorry to those upset by my tweet. My chickens were very distressed by the fox - both before and after I'd despatched it - and I wanted it out of the way quickly.

It’s not quite how I’d envisaged 2019 to be ending, to be honest

The BBC News site ran with the headline "RSPCA looks into claim lawyer killed fox with bat"

My first reaction was that he must have been using something larger than a Pipistrelle, or it was a really small fox.

To be fair the fox clubbing is possibly not the most distressing part of the story:

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2019/dec/26/pr...

“elaborating in a separate tweet that he was wearing a “too small green kimono””

Which is nice.

Since it is legal to kill foxes what exactly has he done wrong?

With any luck, the pompous mansplainer might have his collar felt by the RSPCA. Foxes are indeed beasts to hens, but beating a trapped fox dead was a dick move. Still, at least Maugham manages to unite all - leave, remain, right, left, male, female in thinking him a knobhead.

Posted on Twitter about it. Funny lot on there and somewhat left leaning. Outrage is very easy to come by on that platform and, combined with the "posh Tory - boo, hiss" outlook of Twitter, he was rather foolish to publish his morning's activities.

Twitter is no more left leaning than this place is. Twitter is a series of bubbles, including many far right bubbles. Maugham isn't a Tory AFAIK. He's a tax lawyer who has done some useful public interest cases, but takes himself way too seriously and is wildly wrong on issues such as women's rights.

I'm not sure whether I'm more surprised that he was wearing a small green kimono or that he just happened to own a baseball bat.

He'll claim that the Fox was a set up by the Brexit Party, Far right nazis or Russia or whatever other nugget of bullst currently floating round his brain rolleyes

AFAIK he's broken the law by using a bat to kill the Fox. I would sincerely hope to see him prosecuted. Partly because he's apparently guilty. And partly because he's a complete gobste who thinks his opinions are more important than everyone else's.

So he deserves it biggrin

Maybe he'll state that the kill was swift with no suffering endured by the fox?
