Whilst I couldn't care less what a person's sexual leanings are, 'pan sexual' is a new one on me:

We've had L/G, LGB, LGBT, then LGBTQ.......

I'm prepared to be educated, but isn't it just another term for bi-sexual?

Why the need?

Why do these people feel the need to announce it to the world?

Does it make them feel special somehow?

Google it. All the info is out there.

Why the need? Because humans are weird, odd balls of flesh and electrical impulses and 'people' feel the need to belong to something. You can be straight, gay, pansexual, whatever, if you're comfortable and happy is all that matters. Telling people they can't/shouldn't/aren't what they want to be just isn't on anymore.

If she is pansexual, good for her.

How I read it, actually I would say she is more bisexual but again probably didn't like the term/wouldn't draw enough attention to them.

Kudos for coming out but this just seems coming out with added LOOK AT ME.

'"Being bisexual means being attracted to more than one gender, while being pansexual means being attracted to people regardless of gender," the LBGT foundation said.'

...........which really is splitting hairs for the sake of self-importance.

The only need is from those trying to signal their specialness.

I'm still waiting for the media to pick up on the fact that I like women.

I must be one of the few.

Pansexual = hipster speak for bisexual, because they like to think they invented it.

Ms Moran was clearly outed by the Daily Wail. I follow a few local Lib Dem activists on Twitter, they retweeted her announcement last night, a quick hop over to all the main news sites only a minute or two later had just the Daily Wail covering it in full technicolour detail.

Meanwhile the Grauniad was reporting that she had made the announcement 'after being approached by journalists' - which is media-speak for 'was blackmailed into giving them a story because they were going to print one anyway'.

This was discussed on 5 Live this morning, and I think it goes like this:
Bi-sexual = attracted to men and/or women.
Pan-sexual = attracted to men and/or women and/or transgender and/or gender fluid and/or asexual etc. etc. - in other words the person irrespective of any of the 54 genders or whatever we have now.

A sad indicator of the times we live in. She feels she has to reveal her sexual preferences because people are going to write about it anyway, then a thread full of people (which will no doubt be repeated on many forums and newspaper comments sections) about 'who cares' and how she should just keep it to herself hehe

It's funny how we're all supposedly aghast at this new fangled world with all these multiple iterations of sexuality, but the real trend than irritates us is starting sentences with 'so'.
