What a piece of st.

Annoying that the police arrested one of the men who raped him then woke up and dished out a beating to him

You could understand why they did though. Run of the mill assaults outnumber serial rapes about a million to one, so it is logical that they would make an arrest whilst they investigate to establish the facts. They've done a smashing job taking this pervert off the streets.

"Officers say he may have been committing crimes for 10 years." What here, has he been a student here for 10 years?

Pop him on a plane back to Indonesia with a word to the authorities for his arrival. Better than spending money locking him up here.

The BBC reported that his father is a wealthy businessman involved in the Indonesian palm oil industry, so the rapist didn't need to work. He has four degrees and was in further studies when he was arrested. Living on his dad's wealth, it seems.

Agreed. Why the hell are we responsible for keeping this POS in jail 'for a minimum of 30 years' at god knows what cost?

He should be sent back to his home country to serve his sentence, end of. No argument, no mercy, for this fellow. byebye

Surprised this has been progressing through four trials over 18 months with a news blackout that has worked.

The perp is a piece of work - holding out for the individual trials on top of his apparent guilt (as evidenced in phone video files) now we get to provide bed and board for the next 30+ years.

Kudos to the 18yo victim who awoke and belted the fella, then held onto the phone to show the police.

Only hearing this now. Crazy that he is suspected of doing it for 10 years, will probably never know the total number of victims as metoo doesn't work the same way for guys.

Why?

Nothing stopping them coming forward any more than women, no?
The police have yet to identify many of the victims as they have no clues to their identity other than the footage on the guys phone.

This really has nought to do with me too for blokes at all.

Unbelievable that he has managed to get away with that for so long.

Because there were a series of trials due to the number of offences, like a one man rape gang.

I expect more will come forward now it’s public.

Isn’t that the usual justification for publicity pre-trial, though?

Mystery is why straight blokes would agree to go back to a complete stranger's flat.
They were young, pissed as farts, in no way capable and in most cases completely incapable. He'd offer more beer, kebabs, a safe place to wait for a taxi or mummy.

I suspect none of them thought they wake up and their farts would make a whooshing noise.

Dirty bd wants shooting.

It was multiple trials, and so to prevent the risk of prejudicing the subsequent trials.

I would wager that his dad’s wealth would buy a different sort of prison experience compared to what you’re imagining.

Keep him here in his dingy little cell far from home, his family and his comforts.

There is a thing called responsibility, they were lucky he wasn't a Dennis Nilsen clone, they just off with a sore bottom for their idiocy.
That won't be a popular view! Yet a bit more self-control and bit more caution could have prevented several people becoming victims. Both in this case and in one in Cyprus.

Surprisingly some people do not blame the victims of crime for their misfortune but focus on the criminal instead. Are you going to say they were dressed inappropriately next and deserved to be raped?

Given that it appears that all but one of his 190+ victims did not report it to police, you really have to wonder how many male rapes there actually are and whether the official numbers mean anything at all.
I suppose it is generally assumed that male victims are even less likely to report rape than female ones but this is a startling example of it..
