That ended well, in the video at least. Hope this comment was used in the mitigation:

"Look carefully at the video.
The owners knew the car was dengerous and could explode at any time, they raced to the scene and hit the car to ensure it stopped. They quickly dragged out the thieves and shook them and helped by doing some treatments that would clear any potential deadly gasses from their lungs.

not exactly same thing is it. I think this shows we can have some common sense, Steal a car end up in hospital etc, run over someone who knocked on your door go to gaol.
