A bunch of suggestible muppets with right-on views chosen the way a hypnotist picks subjects from his audience, and led by the nose by the panel of four ‘experts’.

If you think that the Government expects this bunch of mugs to produce useful ideas, you are an optimist. They are there to legitimise and rubber stamp unpopular actions which politicians don’t want to be blamed for.

I don’t think that the public were this naive and stupid when I was a lad, but then they didn’t have anything like as much access to information.

Saw this being debated on Politics Live. ( yesterday )
If you haven't seen it - Lady in orange dress nailed it.

It is a bloody stupid idea for all the reasons she pointed out.

Timandra Harkness: she was bloody brilliant all programme, but to watch her nail the idiocy of this idea spool to the 25 minute mark (ish)

Have to agree, wasn't expecting much with it being the BBC, but she spoke so much sense I wondered how she appeared on the panel.

i wouldnt mind betting that Timandra Harkness will never be asked back on any bbc climate change discussion, Ann Petiffor, on the other hand, i,m sure, will be welcome, if you listen carefully, she says "the world is going to end" during an exchange, Timandra Harkness was the only voice of common sense during this debate.
