Alastair Stewart resigns
Discussion
Over "errors of judgement" made on his now deleted Twitter page. Any clues over what these errors were? Can't find any reference to it.

It's difficult to make sense of this without any context.
However, it looks like a favourite quote. He's used it before.

Wow! Does using Twitter somehow disconnect you from the kind of world we live in these days?
Not sure the relevance of the Shakespeare quote in this case, but really?
What was he thinking?
I imagine that the two of them got into some sort of spat (I think, if you look back at Shapland's Twitter feed, it was about the monarchy) and Stewart thought he'd win by getting 'intellectual', without realising the implications. Not sure the relevance of the Shakespeare quote in this case, but really?

That's giving him the benefit of the doubt of course, which the smiley response might suggest is generous.

Who is Martin Shapland? I googled but it wasn’t clear. A politician? Which party?
Appears to have been Lib Dem a decade ago.Always amazed that public figures cannot seem to control themselves on social media.
Was the original context of what Shakespeare wrote racist or has it just been converted into that because it says "ape" ?
Are we not descended from the Apes ?
I see a Shakespeare quote but not a racist statement. I see a man being compared to a primitive beast, not racism though.
But then he's resigned maybe he did mean it that way.

In his defence, even if he didn't then people wouldn't accept it. Are we not descended from the Apes ?
