I seem to recall Shropshire being re-badged as Salop … which lasted about as long as Consignia.
That went back and forth several times from what i can remember from when my brother was doing his apprenticehsip at Sankey's in Telford. In South Shropshire, back in the day, a resident of Ludlow or Clee Hill would refer to Shrewsbury as "Salop".
This is my 30th year living in Shropshire, and never once has it been intimated that the county is to be re-named as Salop.

This place is so s

t place's name. As Shakespeare nearly said, a turd by any other name would still smell like a turd.
It's happened all the way along the Thames corridor.

I just hope the potential buyers are forewarned they are buying properties on a 'former' flood plain.

This. Even the approach roads into/out of the Dartford tunnel on the Essex side are built on piles, because of the boggy peat.Expansion to the east meant it was inevitable.

Is the margarine factory still there? That was one horrible stink.
