I suppose we could always threaten any hostile nation with a visit from Ms Swain.

I'm impressed that they managed to establish a link between the military, firearms & violence. Amazing what they can learn at university.
For their next trick they'll establish a link between VW & cars.

“ However, some people have disagreed with CUSU’s stance, including Colonel Richard Kemp, former commander of the British Forces in Afghanistan, who described the motion as “pathetic”.‘

Personally I think they should just turn up. In a tank.

And I would actually agree with him!

I was against both the Afghanistan and Iraq wars and I'd scrap Trident in a heartbeat but this motion is ludicrous.

My son spent the last 2 years of his degree at UEA as part of CUAS. They had the same problem at UEA, were not allowed at freshers fair, had to be in room outside and not display uniform etc. Never mind, he had a bloody briliant time. skiing, diving, sailing, walking in Jordan, flying, base visits, Nijmegen 4 day march, organsed a ball for 150 people etc etc etc. Learnt leadership and personal development skills and had a fantastic time. No hard sell to join the RAF but showed you enough to find out if it was the job for you. I guess if you are only interested in whats in front of you and dont stretch yourself perhaps its not the job for that type of person.

Is this like trying to get people to join the navy unit or university air squadron? They wouldn’t be armed anyway would they?

Maybe the navy guys had a sword or something?

Good on them in my opinion.

There are enough sheep in the world already.

Sure but you need some sheepdogs and shepherds to look out for them. That’s what the military is for.

It would be nice if everyone got along like in a John Lennon song but not everyone’s nice.

Well quite. It’s ok to have a future PM society where you shag pig’s heads or get your knob out piss drinking rugby clubs but looking like the forces is a big no no.

UEA Students' Union threw its toys out of the pram and wanted students to boycott Pedro's a great Mexican restaurant, because the unfeasibly giant sombreros they gave people who were celebrating an occasion were 'cultural appropriation'.

Little changes

Orwell said:
England is perhaps the only great country whose intellectuals are ashamed of their own nationality. In left-wing circles it is always felt that there is something slightly disgraceful in being an Englishman and that it is a duty to snigger at every English institution, from horse racing to suet puddings. It is a strange fact, but it is unquestionably true that almost any English intellectual would feel more ashamed of standing to attention during “God Save the King” than of stealing from a poor box.
but at least the people are starting to wake up to the fact and rejecting them.
