I thought it was just that she is a lesbian?
No problem with that at all, well in general, not sturgeon in person that would curdle milk.

Nothing wrong with being a lesbian. Plenty wrong with allegedly being a lesbian while living in a sham marriage with her male boss yet claiming to be positive on diversity and LGBT issues.

Courage of convictions and all that?

Warning... I think that the allegation about Sturgeon is subject to a high court 'super injunction' and may therefore need to be pulled from here.

The SNP folk who are pushing the age of consent narrative over the Mackay story are forgetting that Scottish Govt abides (and has enshrined in the GIRFEC agenda) the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child - deeming anyone under 18 a child

Oh dear, So if thats the case you cant even trust the Politicians to protect our children. Meanwhile Nicola Sturgeon talking
about how great he was as a minister in an effort to get some damage limitation for her band of deceitful wastrels.

The SNP are a disgrace to the people of Scotland.

Poor, poor judgement on her part. She should be condemning his behaviour. It is not like he hasn't admitted to it and his duplicitiousness and lack of judgement casts a shadow over his previous work.

I'm struggling to think of single politician of any persuasion who does not appear dysfunctional on some level (Tony Benn perhaps the only exception I can think of, off the top of my head)

What is the link - does politics attract dysfunctional individuals or does 'power' engender dysfunctionality in the previously normal?

Its just unreal how some think that there will be no consequences.
The guy isn't old I think he is early 40s and would and should be aware of how other people have been caught out. Its just so easy to prove too
Absolutely bizarre.

And the damage he will have done to himself. I understand he came out as gay some years ago after marrying. Perhaps he has had some issues and has tried to keep his sexuality secret to some degree. I don't know but he will now always be known as a SNP Pedo

SNP supporters won't care as long as he wants independence, they'll probably offer to find him some English Tory kids that deserve it

...there has to be some serious opportunity for re hashing of the old "is anything worn under the kilt" joke - Alex can be included as well!

Add this to Alex Salmond's sex offences trial coming up soon and things aren't looking so good for the SNP.

Admittedly these are not directly related but if we see more cases like this their 'brand' could be tarnished beyond repair.

When is the next Scottish election

Could their ‘brand’ be tarnished any more? It’s not had any lustre for a long time.

Just because they gather votes doesn’t mean they’re not completely useless. Their record speaks for itself.

Bit confused here, he's not underage is he? The age gap is huge and not something I would be comfortable with, but i suspect it would be a different story if it was a 16yr old girl.

I certainly don't get the paedo accusations, and unlike Mr Andrew there doesn't seem to be any sex trafficking involved.

Edit: there doesn't appear to be any coercion involved either. I guess an abuse of position maybe?
But the lad is old enough to get married and join the army, same as a girl would be. Not sure anything beyond the age gap - which we seemingly accept for others, especially musicians - is the issue?
