This group got a sympathetic hour-long profile on Channel 5 about an hour ago.
I have no axe to grind, but wonder what others think of the tone of the programme, and whether it told us anything ?
I found the program reasonably balanced and came out of it despising them just as much as I had beforeI have no axe to grind, but wonder what others think of the tone of the programme, and whether it told us anything ?

What I still want to know is - where does the money, if any, come from ?
And do any, repeat any, of their so-called 'leaders' have real jobs ?
And - Gawd Forbid - may I assume that a lot of them are on benefits ?
I asked the same question, who is funding them? And do any, repeat any, of their so-called 'leaders' have real jobs ?

I also wondered why the wifi/phone tower wasnt turned off to stop them organising.

There are many towers that they could connect to on many networks, and lots of wifi. Impractical solution that would inconvenience the public even more and be unlikely to work. I'm not sure that measure exists or has been used but would imagine only for severe terror offencesI also wondered why the wifi/phone tower wasnt turned off to stop them organising.
watching it now...lot of mac books on show, I get their view point, I don't agree with it I also don't think it has a clear goal that is deliverable. plus gluing yourself to the floor is probably pointless.
Change can be effective, vote with your feet and wallet. Don't like something dont use or buy it. Persuade others to do it an you can effect change. Just cause a nuisance you alienate the majority

For me their issues are lack of leadershi means they are focused on tactical and not strategic goalsChange can be effective, vote with your feet and wallet. Don't like something dont use or buy it. Persuade others to do it an you can effect change. Just cause a nuisance you alienate the majority
Therefore they are not in control of things being done in their name
There was no rationale behind the tube action and they were humiliated
Many of their supporters are fringe figures and they are emboldened to live their anarchic dream
But as you say, without the balance of rational reasoned strategic leadership it is easy for the message to drift to social justice which is a big turn off, or for them to just become a nuisance
ALso whilst what they do is different and impactful, it can make them look like lunatics / ravers, and that dilutes their message and reduces their credibility.
If they look like lunatics / idiots / anarchists, why would they be spreading reliable information about the climate situation
so watched all of it and yeah pretty much noble aims lost in there lack or leadership and the ability of one faction to go ahead even though many disagreed.
The co ordination with the police while used agaist them in the end was a smart move it stopped people getting hurt but I think in the end a few thousand hippies realised the majority of the public is not with them

Not hard to find... in the UK a lot of funding comes from the Guerrilla Foundation And do any, repeat any, of their so-called 'leaders' have real jobs ?

More on the foundation here

Other notable funders are Aileen Getty through her Climate emergency fund, Chris Hohn and Joseph Corré
It would be safe to say that they are all very left leaning organisations all of whom have made their money from the very capitalist processes they are now trying to overturn.
