Not a story that has made many big headlines over the years, but one that has rather intrigued me.

Briefly - Rikki was a 6 year old who was found dead (strangled) a short distance from his Peterborough home in 1994.

His mother was found not guilty of his murder but given 7 years for cruelty. Some details of her treatment of him are here -

I must say, seeing her pictured today (see link below), and seeing her campaigns for justice every now and then over the years, leave a rather bitter taste, knowing how she treated the boy.

Anyway, another rather interesting aspect is that the bloke charged with murder today is 38 years old. Making him just 13 years old when the crime was committed.

Doubtless a hugely complex case and will be interesting when this comes to trial.

I remember the name. It would be good if anyone who deserves to be brought to justice gets it.

But gee whizz it's a difficult case to read about. Very, very sad.

An awful story that brings home the pattern of abuse and neglect that unless broken just perpetuates generation to generation. If some justice can be found after all this time, so much the better.

That first article linked to. I'm just reading it and the first sentence has me staggered.......Social Services left him with his bh of a mother for another three years after that, FFS!
