Is 'Western Imperialism' a convenient blanket term for the past evils of white people or did the Romans not kill anyone?
Now the Japanese are under belated scrutiny, although not actually those who committed the atrocities, but a singer I've never heard of on Ant and Dec

Playing devils advocate, but is it any different than if they'd shown symbols of a swastika...?
Both symbols have origins going back far earlier than the regimes who appropriated it as their own, but for some (many) people they see the darker history associated with them. I guess the differences being that (1) the Rising Sun flag is not so recognisable to most people in the UK in comparison to the swastika, and (2) the Rising Sun is still used by the Japanese Navy today.

Surely the Romans, part Italian are considered Caucasian. I.e. White, in the main. Now the Japanese are under belated scrutiny, although not actually those who committed the atrocities, but a singer I've never heard of on Ant and Dec

However Romans of course were comprised of many races from Europe and North Africa.
I think it is reasonable to say most ‘civilisation’ and many in the name of religion have carried out atrocities at some point in their evolution.
