Unbelievable !!!!!
Nothing to do with health and safety - all to do with money.
Was looking forward to a good day out in April - November seems ages away frown

Very believable. Films require bums on seats to make money. By April we could well see a worldwide closure of cinemas.

Risky move seeing how often films leak these days.

Presumably health and safety and making money aren't mutually exclusive?

I don't doubt that they would lose a stload of money if they released it on the original date.

That doesn't mean that it isn't a good decision in health and safety terms for them to postpone it.

Given that this is just about the biggest mass market release of the year, sensible move. By all accounts April is when infections will really mount up, so going to the cinema will be at the bottom of the list of activities for many.

Skyfall cost $200m to make, Spectre cost $245m to make, then add that much again for marketing and distribution costs. No Time To Die will have cost a similar amount. Every cinema in China is currently shut, cinemas in Italy, France and Germany might see large scale closures soon. Even in other countries global box office takings are starting to drop as people stay home. If I was the studio exec in charge I'd make the same call. They could lose a quarter of a billion dollars in lost ticket sales by opening at the wrong time.

Not just Bond films that cost money to make though. So nobody's gonna want to release a film in the next 3 months? What are the cinemas (the ones which are open) gonna do?

It's the notion that everything will be fine in November that gets me.
