Private rental market at the moment

How are folk renting in the private sector at the moment? Would be interested to hear from either private landlords or from those who have been looking at the moment?

Cant imagine lettings agents are happy showing ransoms around loads of properties etc.

Its relevant to me personally. But I'm more interested generally. Many people will have to still rent on the private market so surely something is in place?

We are meant to be moving out when our lease ends on 17 April to move into our first home that we are completing on 6 April. Worried I might need to ring the landlord up and tell him we can't leave and hopefully a new tenant hasn't signed a lease...

Am supposed to be moving to a new place on 1April. Employer is holding a meeting to discuss our future on... 1April!

Will call new landlord and ask him to move the date by a day, just to be safe. Losing my deposit is preferable to losing my job and having 6 months of new rent to pay.
