At the moment people seem to be mainly obeying the social distancing rules, but experts seem to be saying that people will become fatigued and complacent as we get further in and start going out. Do you think that the government will introduce some sort of tipping off line to report those disobeying the rules? I think NZ have something along those lines in place.

Would you support this being in place so you can report those you see breaking the rules and putting others at risk?

See other threads about STASI state like encouraging people to report on people.

We need to be pulling together, and working together as community, not creating divisions and and culture of mistrust and informants...

What would you like them to do after this is all over? We could use these informants for other things - perhaps report people if they thing their neighbours have offensively loud exhausts, think they saw them going faster than 30mph etc.

Agreed with this statement - social distancing could actually bring people together, albeit not physically.

It must be frustrating to discover that you were born 80 years too late and in the wrong country. Misfit.

Indeed to the "pulling together" comment.

A bit of healthy peer pressure is fine though.

Ain't no substitute for trust if you want a society to work. As someone with family in the States, it's tragic to see how there's been a run on ammunition, body armour and even night vision kit, particularly from quite a few people who think they're traditional Christians. Faith in your fellow man or what?

Anyway, my prepping is paying off. Anticipating the current crisis, I have spent the last few years carefully laying down about 10kg of flab around my gut, chin and tits. Now that I'm at home and no longer have unrestrained access to The Tipperary, Wasabi and Casella, I am slowly eating into my own supply of lard.

I think wannabe Blockleiters are going to find it hard to get their windows fixed right now, so it might be a cold few weeks.

I sincerely hope that not a single person would support this.

The Polizei here are complaining about people overwhelming them with reports about citizen-not-following-orders.

I think we should all be supplied with catapaults, so we can swiftly punish any rule breakers with a large stone thwacking them on the back of their heads at high velocity. Village stocks of course, for persistant offenders.

Humberside police already have an online portal: https://www.reportingcrime.uk/HPBreachOfCovid19Gui...

I'm sure others do too.

Don't forget to order your nice new shirt from Amazon afterwards. They seem to be selling out fast so don't delay.

100% compliance isn’t needed to beat this, so the police should generally be able to stay on top of it. They don’t need informers everywhere. It may be frustrating for people to see others flouting the rules but they just need to chill out.

The problem is you then have people saying the police are overzealous when they do clamp down on people taking the piss, so it’s a very fine line and you can’t please everyone.

Dammit man, we're British.

We don't report things to the Police. We tut loudly and write letters to the local paper. biggrin

The 10th of April is Easter weekend, this is typically the time the UK starts to get out and about enjoying the countryside and tourist attractions. I guess Easter will bring out the idiots and force us into even stricter restrictions.

Facebook localpages are full of people out complaining about other people out. Even moaning about people golfing - the ultimate in social distancing. Lots of wannabe Stasi around.

I was about to post that I’m sure I’ve actually seen numbers already where you can report people to the police for not following the new rules/laws/guidelines etc

It wasn’t humberside police that I saw so there must be others.
