It was a throw away comment on BBC breakfast this morning ,
But , if and when life returns back to normal ,I think the UK has earned a nationwide street party .

Social distancing probably won’t be relaxed until the autumn though so could be a bit cold / set off another round of illness hehe

Was talking to the wife about this, I don't think there is going to be one significant end date when everyone is suddenly released back to life pre Corvus-19 for people to celebrate.

I imagine it will be a very gradual return over a number of months so I don't see any big celebrations

I don’t see any major celebrations at any point, we don’t yet know of the mortality rate and I reckon a celebration would be inappropriate and insensitive.

As long as everyone wears the mandated masks, I don't see a problem.

Some people also think Coronation St and Eastenders is true to life.

It depends where you live. In London I knew maybe 4 people in my street. Here I know the names of all 100+ locals.

Some neighbours had a street party when Harry and Meghan got married.

Reasonable turn out too.

Whilst it's a nice idea to celebrate victory against Coronavirus with some kind of party, VE Day-style, I think we're some way off there yet - we're only a week into lockdown.

My local village is planning one when the pubs reopen, I'm assuming by that point we are all established back into a normal work routine and we start unwinding the measures for pubs and stadiums gradually.

Round here they're all related to each-other.

I'm wondering if a street party would be well received by those who lost loved ones to the virus.

I think that's an odd thing to wonder. People who lose loved ones aren't the only people who'll suffer, everyone will to some extent.

To use the war time analogy again, people still celebrated VE day despite everyone knowing someone who had died in WW2.
