I must admit I had not paid any attention to the "5G is responsible for Covid19" comments from people, as, to be completely honest, I had not even considered how it might be responsible so it all sounded a bit like a plot from a new cold war sci-fi pandemic movie.

However, had a really interesting chat with an old mate of mine on Sunday, he worked in the study of electric waves and the effects they can have on us, positive and negative, for years until moving to a different role a few years back. But he does stay in touch with many of his old colleagues and they all seem to be absolutely convinced that the roll out of 5G is causing real problems to our immune system at best and far more at worst.
Many are totally and utterly convinced 5G is reason we are seeing what we are seeing.

I started thinking about this again this morning, looking at where the outbreaks are on the world map and where there is a large 5G infrastructure. More so where they have had 5G for a while all ready.
It pretty incredible how closely they follow.

I then started to look for some info and articles and I guess that is why I am posting, to see if anyone has any articles about this as I would like to know more?

Most out there are from those funny conspiracy theory sites, but then I guess everything is a theory until it is taken for granted.

This article from October 2019 is interesting...

Then this video by Dr. Thomas Cowan, M.D. hypothesizes that Coronavirus may be history repeating itself and caused by 5G. Shot at the Health And Human Rights Summit in Tucson, Arizona on March 12, 2020.

An adult discussion would be nice. I would really like to hear some scientific facts and links to more reports.
However, I expect the thread to be ruined pretty quickly. Hope not.

I don't really know where to start.

Absolute rubbish. 5G in the UK for instance is at a slightly higher frequency than 4G. OFCOM have been out measuring 5G on the street-side, and the EMF emission is at lower level than 4G.

I have been measuring EMF on rooftops, much close to transmitting antennae and have also found that 4G is emitting higher levels of EMF. That will change as more of us use 5G, but for now.... Nah.

I suspect your mate and his colleagues have little understanding of electromagnetism. The effects are well understood and 5G is safe. Its basic physics.

Honestly it's like being voicing concerns that Channel 5 might be bad for you because it's one more than Channel 4.

Next time you see him ask him specifically what is it about 5G that's different to other electromagnetic waves.

On the subject of wibble, some of my family are antivaxers. I posed the question of what they will do if a vaccine becomes available for Covid. I've not had a reply yet smile

When did science or evidence ever worry these loons? Anyway, they are too busy panic buying tinfoil and chemtrail resistant face masks made out of old socks.

You tell me what is it that is the same?

With so many saying 5G is not good for our health and especially for our immune system, put my mind at rest.

What has that added to the conversation?

Seriously? Why call people loons and mock?

If you go to sleep every night draped around a 5G antenna working at full power, it won't do you any good

Other than that, there are - of course - some risks associated with filling the world with additional electromagnetic radiation. But the risks are very small indeed and the benefits of connectivity outweigh those risks many times over from almost every angle

I don't expect 5G is going to cause any more problems than 4G/ 3G / 2G did

Doesn't it?

I know there is no public 5G service, but they have been working with China on the 5g infrastructure, how do we know it is not all in place and being tested?

Well i'm convinced that the mobile network signals have been the main driver for the decline of the insect population and have been saying it for some time.

There must be an effect no matter how small of some sort on living cells as it is above what the natural background level of whatever wavelength it is would be.(not a scientist i'll add)

But 5g antennas are every couple of hundred metres.

That is the point. We will all be draped in 5g.

I want someone to explain how being blasted in low level (not even that low) constantly really isn't a concern?

Put my mind at rest.
Show my scientific evidence.

Why?

Why haven't radio or TV transmissions or radar had a similar effect?

You are blasted with it all day every day. The sun is "blasting" you, your lights are "blasting" you. So is TV, radio, satellite etc.

It's an electromagnetic spectrum. Why concentrate on the 5G frequencies? What do you image is different about them?

It's not as though they are in the ionising range.

We've had radio waves in the air for many, many years.

From the lower frequencies like CB radio (27Mhz) right up to Microwave communications that operate on frequencies from 300 MHz and 300 GHz.

Microwave frequencies in particular have been used for many years for point to point telecommunications.

Not forgetting UHF television (470Mhz to 800MHz) which was also very widespread.

UHF TV and FM radio (88 to 108MHz) in particular was often broadcast at high power to provide adequate coverage - and as far as I know, was never blamed for any illnesses.

One also needs to bear in mind, that as frequencies rise, absorption (plantation / buildings / etc) increases which effectively reduces the radiated power to some degree.

If these high frequencies were such an issue, I would have thought we would have been well aware of any issues by now.

Disclaimer: I'm not a scientist, this is just my own opinion, formed from working in the electronics industry for 30+ years.

  • There are many other radio based services, I just cited some random (but common) example frequencies.
  • I did once have a Nokia phone (2006 or so) that when used for more than 5 minutes would make my ear feel very warm, but that was the only handset that did this.
EDIT: I note that my post has partially duplicated another whilst I was composing it.

I can assure you that worrying over something like this will have far more detrimental effects than 5g itself.
Have you worried about having WiFi in your house for the last x years?

Surely the numbers of people saying something is irrelevant if they are not credible experts in their field. Here is a response also published in Scientific American to the first piece you linked to.

It begins thus: Don’t Fall Prey to Scaremongering about 5G
Activists cite low-quality studies in arguing radio-frequency radiation is dangerous, but the weight of evidence shows no risk.

Remember on the subject of numbers - Donald Trump was elected president.
