Sadly passed away yesterday from the Corona virus, announcement just been made by Longleat estate.
It is with the deepest sadness we have to announce Lord Bath has died at the age of 87.

Alexander Thynn, 7th Marquess of Bath, passed away on Saturday, 4th April. He was admitted to the Royal United Hospital in Bath on 28th March where it was confirmed he had the Coronavirus.

The family would like to express their great appreciation for the dedicated team of nurses, doctors and other staff who cared so professionally and compassionately for Alexander in these extremely difficult times for everyone.

They would politely request a period of privacy to deal with their loss.

Pity, met him once, as he was a friend of a friend, and enjoyed chatting with him over a beer. Nice chap.

I used to go carp fishing at longleat about 20 years ago.
We were night fishing for 3 days and on the second day he came out and chatted to us for about an hour. Seemed a very down to earth nice guy always enjoyed watching him on the bbc program.

Sad to see this; no first hand knowledge of the man but he was clearly a character and the world will be a less colourful place for his passing.

Without him there would have been no UFO club at Longleat - so that makes him a legend in my book.

RIP

By his own admission privileged, but what a truly glorious and hedonistic life he had.

Not 100% but pretty sure one of his younger relations worked for me many years ago. We always remarked how alike they were.

Unfortunately now both gone. RIP.
