Robert Jenrick - Visit to parents
Discussion
Some balanced reporting from The Guardian:

Looks to me like he acted within the rules, although the distance he had to travel was less than ideal.

Assuming that his defence of delivering supplies and medicines is true, then I'm not really sure what the story is here.... Same exemption as the rest of us.
I think the issue here is that he travelled 40 miles to deliver food (that was already being sorted by neighbours) and medicine (which just as likely could be delivered by neighbours too, assuming they used a local pharmacy). It would almost seem, and call me cynical, that he used the food and medicine as an excuse to see his parents when someone much closer to them could have done the same job.

Exactly this. He's a hypocrite. Don't preach one thing from a supposed position of authority then do the exact opposite. It would almost seem, and call me cynical, that he used the food and medicine as an excuse to see his parents when someone much closer to them could have done the same job.
My mother lives 20 miles away. Neighbours have been doing their bit but nearly are all as old and shouldn't go out either. There is also a limit to how much you can ask neighbours to do.
On Tuesdays she had no milk, eggs or other fresh stuff. So I took her some. Not apologising for it.
I know several other oldies various distances away where the neighbours have been hopeless and they have no close family. If they get desperate I'll help them as well. Not apologising for that either.
So he took some stuff to his parents maybe to just do his bit. So what. He should.

If they needed it, he had every right to do it. I don't know what he bought, doubt anyone does, hopefully it wasn't champagne, caviar and Easter eggs.On Tuesdays she had no milk, eggs or other fresh stuff. So I took her some. Not apologising for it.

In your case, there's perhaps a local volunteer group that can support. I've been shopping for an old lady with COPD for the last 3 weeks. Coordinated by the local community center.
Bit of thin line.
The Grauniad witness (sorry, grass) said they saw Jenrick visiting his parents' home. He didn't go in, he delivered meds (and food?) 'he' had collected.
The only issue I can see is distance travelled.
Would I trust neighbours to deliver parents' 'meds'?
Especially, a neighbour like the one in question?
A wonderful neighbour who, not just snitches, but will go as far as to contact a national rag - especially a rag they knew would run the story.
Like some above, I'd deliver them myself or ensure who did so, was someone I knew.

How the hell is this even a story? People have gone insane and started snitching on stuff that's perfectly legitimate.
Seems that some in Government have realised that the wrong message has come across, people are concentrating on the wrong things and most damaging of all have utterly misunderstood what was meant for working arrangements and have gone well beyond what was intended.
All egged on by a media looking for any excuse to make a story from nothing.

I'd do the same, my parents are 80 miles away.
If my mate's sister wasn't closer and already doing the job, then if needed, he'd deliver stuff 200 miles to his mother.
This isn't someone going round to socialise, or toddling off to a second home because he fancies it. There is a very clear allowance for this type of journey, he was right to make it, and who ever tried to dob him in for it should sit in the corner and have a think about how they conduct themselves.
