No ‘lavish trips’ abroad this summer

Really hoping there are some possibilities. Driving into Europe through France due to the lack of quarantine sounds the best option right now.
Has anyone seen any indications what the borders in Europe will look like in the summer?
Lots of talk about opening on July 1st. Has anyone seen any indications what the borders in Europe will look like in the summer?
Only if you’re not planning anything too lavish obviously.
Planning an un-lavish cross channel sailing trip about 2021/2 but there is a very slim chance to visit Fowey and points west in August/Sept!
I feel sad for those who will be queuing for the ferry, 2m apart, towing their caravan that have a more restrictive venue and welcome by the the locals. Take all supplies, would be my suggestion, as you will be as welcome as a leper, at the local markets unless you speak the patois!

I read something about travellers arriving to the UK by sea* don't need to self-quarantine. Anyone know what the situation is on the road borders from France or Switzerland to Italy? Got a place there rotting and while wild horse wouldn't get me into an Orange plane I could ride or drive.

European borders are closed, until May 15th from memory when they will no doubt review.pequod said:

Fortunately I speak the lingo, but yeah take your point, could be an interesting ‘welcome’ we receive.I feel sad for those who will be queuing for the ferry, 2m apart, towing their caravan that have a more restrictive venue and welcome by the the locals. Interesting that visitors from France have been included with Eire, not requiring quarantine? A political move if I ever saw one but maybe this will be the way forward? Neighbouring countries opening borders to a few, but don't take the mickey driving from N Germany to S France and similar instructions (unwritten?) for us. Visit Normandy/Brittany this Summer but 'use common sense'!
A lot to commend it, don't you think?

what a strange word, lavish, i'm sure lavish holidays are at the back of most peoples mind.
Pretty dumb use of language imo, no wonder some people find the messages ambiguous. He says no big lavish trips abroad, but what he's actually managed to say by default is that small modest trips abroad are OK, which is not the case, the guidelines/regulations make no distinction with regard to opulence/thrift in that regard. t
