Old Boris has taken a lot of stick but where would we be now if Jeremy et al had got in?

If JC and Momentum Labour had got in with the same majority laugh He would still be thinking about things. He'd be the rabbit caught in the headlights!! We'd be a lot more f*cked than we are!! yikes If that's possible

Can you imagine Diane Abbot doing the daily death figures?

"Today 600 people have died, which means -56.3 people have died in total..."

I think the government would have fallen by now. I just can't see people having any confidence or trust in Corbyn and Abbott.

Definition of whataboutism!!

Our current shower of eejits are still better than a Corbyn alternative. It is not a high bar, though.

It is still a bar that a worm could trip over, unfortunately.

We'd be in exactly the same position because anything that could have been done in regard to PPE provision or NHS resourcing takes so long to filter through that Corbyn et al would've been just as caught on the hop at this lot are.

Labour would have had the convenient out of saying "Look, not our fault, they were warned about this in 2016 and did nothing about it. Reap/Sow"

The election was only mid-December. They'd have had a couple of weeks of back-slapping and cabinet formation, before everything closed for Christmas. By then, the genie was very much out of the bottle in Wuhan.

Labour would have been nervous to shut things down lest they be referred to as 'the party who hates business'.

They would probably have put a less generous furlough scheme in place for fear of being accused of being a bunch of Marxists who want everyone working for the state.

If you're a dyed in the wool Conservative, currently having your mortgage paid via furlough, then you should really consider Socialism as an option. It helps out those that need it, when they most need it, y'see. If you don't want the money, send Rishi Sunak a nice email to thank him for keeping a roof over your head, decline the money and go for it alone. Survival of the fittest and all that. Wouldn't want to be accused of being a called a scrounger and all that, due to being forced out of work by circumstances beyond your control.

I write this as a long-term, but now very much ex, Conservative voter.

What would have been more worrying would be if labour had been in power for the 5 years before this all started. I know Boris has made a few mistakes along the way but the biggest was by not keeping the lock down rules as was but get the majority back into work and removing some of the furlough

It would have been a Utopia of zero deaths, fully stocked PPE cupboards, 110% furlough payments for all, a developed vaccine and grey jump suits for everyone.

Corbyn and Momentum would have used the virus as an opportunity to further their ideology and cement their own position at the expense of everything else. Basically they’d have done a lefty version of Orbán and Fidesz.

I’m very thankful they didn’t win last year.

You jest but I'm willing to bet there are people who genuinely think that...

Relatively similar to Priti Patel doing them then, no?

This is the lamest defence of the governemt handling of the crisis. One thing Corbyn might have done is attended COBRA meetings more promptly, and taken some actions, rather than being rather late to the party as we have seen.
The answer is that absolutley nobody knows or can know - It is just a place for BJ fanboys to come and do a bit of name calling.

Probably very similar, but with a lot more shouting from the Tory party about economic catastrophe of furlough and grants.
