Just had several Ferrari’s, a Cobra, a few Porsche’s all thrashing through my village.
Clearly all together in a run out...

Lovely roads around here, but absolutely full of families out walking and cycling.

Plod is making the law up again:

Police said: "Having a supercar meeting in Cumbria/ Lakes is NOT essential"

No, they aren't;

What part of a drive out (and purely a drive out with friends) is covered in the regulations?

1.2 I don’t have to stay at home anymore?
You should stay at home as much as possible. The reasons you may leave home include:

for work, where you cannot work from home
going to shops that are permitted to be open - to get things like food and medicine
to exercise or spend time outdoors
any medical need, including to donate blood, avoid injury or illness, escape risk of harm, or to provide care or to help a vulnerable person
These reasons are exceptions and a fuller list is set out in the regulations. Even when doing these activities, you should be minimising time spent away from the home and ensuring that you are two metres apart from anyone outside of your household.

I can't see the word "essential" in those guidelines (which is also not law).

Car 'cruising' was banned round here years ago (West Mids) because of several serious incidents. This was pre covid19 although I've seen a few today who are obviously following each other....

Driving a car has never fallen under any definition of spending time outdoors.

It was quite clever, the court ruling meant that instead of a motoring offence it became contempt of court. So carried a prison sentence.

It's either indoors or outdoors. I'm going with outdoors.

Perhaps some scientists might explain the risk of catching a virus whilst ensconced in your own car?

Since last Wednesday there is no limit, in England, on the distance than can be driven for exercise. It looks like Plod is making the law up again

I, for one, am shocked at such a suggestion. Shocked I say.

Always has, no one ever drives their car in the house?

Could fall under outdoor recreation. No need to be 'exercise' any more.

Either way, since there's no limit to the distance you can drive for recreation, even if the driving itself doesn't count, all you need to do if asked is say you're on your way to spend time outdoors.

Were they driving for exercise?

There are no limits (in England) how far you can travel for exercise or to spend time outside. “Gatherings” still aren’t allowed, but frankly, people saying x, y or z is “closed” boils my piss (and I say that as a BiB). If that was what the government wanted, that’s what the law should say.

We (cops) sometimes really don’t do ourselves any favours.

It is vastly confusing as well as, ''The Lake District remains closed despite the small changes made to ease lockdown in the UK.''
