Is it just me or all this racism stuff in the news causing racism?!

Is it really a problem in this country?

Keep seeing people referencing Mark Duggan, what aload of rubbish. He was involved in arms dealing, he got shot by the police, unlucky....deserved it if you ask me. Live by the sword die by the sword.

I am not remotely racist and don’t know anyone that is.

It's just you.

It's making you aware of a lot of racism that has been there all along, which is not the same thing as causing it.

I think the recent events have set race relations back decades. The UK is one of the most tolerant countries on earth and to have us made into a load of slave traders overnight by BLM and the MSM has turned my piss to steam.

Its all very divisive and unfortunately one movement has been hijacked by the hard left, which has now brought about a reaction, which has been deemed "far right". I don't know of anyone who hasn't been hugely disappointed by the recent events in London. This has nothing to do with the UK police and a total farce.

Is the UK 'racist' no. Having worked with all races in my career I believe everyone has some element of 'racism' about them as its just a fear of the unknown. I've found the people I have got one well with have always joked and laughed and my English heritage as much as I have theirs. I would genuinely say its been good fun for all.

I've never once considered anything to be derogatory, as we've joked about me being a 'honky, white trash, ripped for my 'bland' food tastes, my wifes lack of curves etc etc etc'.

The problem is that many are not actually anti racists. They are just racist who happen to be biased in different directions. What they don't seem to realize is that racism is racism regardless of which direction it is going in. yet their standard response is to `fight' racism, with yet more racism. and then they wonder why the issue is still on going.

that guy in that video is an out and out scumbag..... this tit for tat attempted point scoring is pathetic. "yeah , well, racism goes the other way" etc etc etc....

there's a bigger picture here and the vast majority of people don't seem to grasp it.

i'm not going to start quoting figures but do your homework on percentages of arrests against percentage of population, look at the percentages of prison population and so on. education, job opportunities....

to say that there might be a problem in america but not here is incorrect... YES we are a far more tolerant and even handed nation that they are but to say racism doesn't exist in this country is just burying your head in the sand....

here is what i posted in the boxing thread about the anthony joshua speech ...

tuscaneer said:
I didn't take his speech in a racist sense mate.... his diatribe about "the superior black race" I took badly at the time he said it(on some level I felt betrayed as a white fan who had met him and chatted with him...it felt like a slap in the face) but this speech in watford I didnt take in that way at all.....in fact what's been going on since the george floyd murder seemed to trigger a global response has made me reevaluate my mind set... when there is 400 years of oppression etched into your DNA I can see why you would lash out and say something like that.... I still dont condone the superior race comment but can understand where it came from.....

I think the intent behind the comment yesterday was to display unity, to be heard, to band together as community for strength and empowerment...

I cant pretend to begin to understand how black people feel after all this time and feeling like nothing has changed where in 2020 dozens of black people have been (un)lawfully killed by police brutality but definitely empathize....

I'm from liverpool which obviously was part of the slave triangle and has the associated resonance of that time still etched into the city's soul...

I am very chatty with a guy who was singer in a band I was really into in the 90s on instagram... he's a black guy who was in a hardcore band which was and still is quite an unusual thing... anyway, he is a deep thinker and we talk about all sorts of things from music to politics to art... we were discussing architecture and what it means to you and I hadn't really considered it before but a lot of the old stately homes near me that I love were built by shipping magnates who were involved in slave and cotton trading... I had never really considered the dirtiness of the money made to build these grand old houses until I was discussing it with a black new Yorker...amazing when you think I have grown up in this city ... born and raised here all my life... and I've been very aware of this city's place in the history of slavery... I'm amazed something like the discussed above hadn't hit me in my 45 years on this planet.... and this was last year before what's been going on lately..... now I'm even more acutely aware of the struggle of black people not just in America but here too.... even though as a nation we are a lot more even handed you have to remember it's only 30 years ago we had the toxteth and Brixton riots that were caused by the same age old thing....

Sorry for the essay but I felt like I needed to reach out and discuss it......Joshua's comments have come from a different place than you think in my humble opinion brother..... please dont take this response as me having a go at you because I'm not... just reflecting

and why are people not talking about chinese and north korean death camps, appalling human rights records in the middle east, arab slave trading of africans in 2020 and so on....

the world seems to be one fked up place and where camera phones are not prevalent a lot of things that go on seem to be under the radar..

The same ones you were referring to with regard to PPEheros previous posts.
It seems you believe it is OK for you, (and others) to denigrate his posts because `you' think they were made by someone, who in your view must be drunk.(He even admitted that he was)
But are you really so arrogant, that you think your posts are beyond criticism, when comments about them really just depend on peoples different viewpoints.
Or is It the case that all your posts are perfect, whilst anyone with a different view is wrong in your somewhat biased book.
