Except he didn’t. He said ‘in many cases’ black people are more racist that white. I suspect that in many cases they can be. He is being misquoted. Non story.

Someone who used to spend his time ruining F1 says something outrageously racist. As someone said, a non-story about a non-celebrity.

The sun quoted him as saying: "In lots of cases, black people are more racist than what white people are." I'd be surprised if, as someone suggested, this quote is inaccurate and he's shown himself to be willing to sue in the past and would, no doubt, defend himself if such a racist remark hadn't been made.

There was a collator at Caledonian Road nick who didn't like him and had some stories as to why.

"In lots of cases, black people are more racist than what white people are."

The reporting trims that fairly significant qualifier.

Though the sentence construction hurts my eyes.

'In lots of cases' is waffle.

If he had meant to say that black people can be racists, or as racist as any other race, then that's fine. It's an observation that he could back up. However, I feel the wording, or at least the first four words, was chosen with care. Most people will see the second part of the sentence as dominant, mainly, I suppose, because it is. The intent of the statement is clear.

And the evidence to back up his statement is ...

It's inflammatory and inappropriate though entirely unsurprising.

I can't stand the odious twerp but whether he has a point or not he is entitled to that opinion, suggesting non caucasians are capable of racial discrimination is a valid point, I know of a petrol station where all the employees are from a particular geographic region.
The employment policy is demonstrably racist, I don't actually have a problem with the owners and happily use the facility but to label people commenting on it as racists is farcical.

It’s Bernie. He’s the best part of 90. He’s mega rich, he lives a life removed from almost everybody normal.

He can say exactly what he likes to whom and not really give a fk.

Whatsmore wrt to the actual comment I don’t think it’s even in his top 10 of controversial lines!

I watched the interview, or at least up until he made that comment, and I thought he seemed quite sensitive to the matter.

I spend a fair amount of time in multicultural neighbourhoods and some of the comments made by BAMEs about other BAMEs can be outrageous. A white person would probably face charges.

It's his personal opinion and as such is subjective and arrived at through personal experience. He doesn't need to provide 'evidence' of anything.

What has diversity got to do with making money?? Be under no illusion that Bernie has had that as priority number one for quite some time.

Misquoting is stardard for the left (and often for the media generally), when someone makes a resonable balanced statement on a subject for which they are constructing opinion. Trump gets misquoted all the time, so as to feed the negative image profile his opposition has been building from the day he took office.

To suggest that people of all races can be racist is one thing; to suggest black people are more racist that white, even with the rather transparent modifier of 'in many cases', is racist in itself. This is just manufactured defence. It doesn't stand up. It was anything but a reasonable balanced statement. Read what he said carefully, as there's no doubt he picked the words with care. It was deliberate, it was inflammatory, it was a racist statement. He also knew what the press would headline; that's why he said those particular phrases. It's 'rivers of blood'.
