I thought this would have been posted already but I can't find it anywhere (apologies if the search facility and my eyes have failed me) - the ISC Russia Report is now available.

However it's not the full report, it's a smaller than normal version that's still been heavily redacted, the "annex" report is deemed too dangerous to publish in case the Russians see it.

http://isc.independent.gov.uk/

https://docs.google.com/a/independent.gov.uk/viewe...

Press release for the above:

https://docs.google.com/a/independent.gov.uk/viewe...

Obviously the various news outlets will put their own interpretations of this out to their audiences but it should all be based on the above if anyone is interested in the source.

The general take-home for me seems to be that the government and associated UK agencies adopted a "fingers in ears, head in sand" policy and didn't really bother to find out if Russia was up to anything so as a result the conclusions from the report are "we don't really know".

So in summary I think we're at "there's no evidence that Russia had any influence on the elections" (because nobody tried to find any).

When they're doing great work on behalf of Boris and have his friends under payroll there is no incentive to investigate. The idea of protecting British sovereignty is a joke to this govt, nothing more than a soundbite.

It's amazing really, if this was about Dianne Abbot wearing odd socks it'd be 20 pages of fury by now. But the gov wilfully ignoring an attack on our democracy by a foreign power and it's tumbleweed.

I suppose the cultists are awaiting the official line of defence to come through from above.

It's been so long coming, I was half expecting it to be the Soviet Union report!

Plenty of discussion in the Boris thread - as he is personally responsible for everything these days smile

Ah, I missed that as I don't tend to go into that one as much as it seems I should, I thought this topic was a bit more extensive than just being the responsibility of one chap, albeit one that's probably where he is thanks to its subject matter.

Ironically, it appears the SNP owe more of their success to the Russians than Boris does, according to the report.

I think that's the point, all bad news about our great leader gets buried in amongst hundreds of pages that a diehard couple of people debate and the average person (such as you in this case) avoid.

Very effective tactic as keeps unsavoury titles showing up in people feeds.

Don't be silly - winning the election was only about the glory of beating Jeremy Corbyn - it's offensive to him and his followers that he should actually take responsibility for anything now.

This is the usual pattern. They'll ignore it and play it down until they're told otherwise.

So far the lines they're trying out are that it was Labour and the SNP benefitting from it. They haven't got one for why the Tories tried to cover it up for Labour and the SNP yet hehe

In your example, surely it is those that are "anti" the protagonist that generate the 20 pages of fury?

So you need to try harder in your fury venting (if, indeed, you are concerned about the Russians). 2 lines won't fill anything.

I await your page long diatribe that we can then look at objectively smile

I was expecting a damp squib, instead this looks huge.

This is going to run and run and run.

PS Was this report ever going to say anything different? I think it would be impossible to tell who interfered with what any which way.

I suspect Boris and Cummings only held it back to irritate the opposition and their more fervent supporters. Nobody else really cared (as per the sentence above) and it likely distracted them from other more meaningful topics. Either that or they did it for a laugh smile

Are you concerned that a Russian with links to Putin, is the tories biggest female donor?

The report does state that Russian money buying influence is a cause for concern.

"ISC committee member Stewart Hosie said no-one in Government wanted to touch the issue of Russian interference with a "10-foot pole" and no-one knew if Russia had tried to interfere with the 2016 EU referendum "because they did not want to know"

A gov that "didn't want to know" about foreign interference? Not a huge fking red flag to you? Even if they were batting for your team in this case you'd surely be concerned about that?

Or by insulation of your post are you not against such interference?

Would you care to point out the "huge" thing in it that you think will run and run?

wink

Ah right yeah, no point in even trying to monitor it or even fight it in that case.

Utterly shameful at this point it's leaving the back door open for a burglar. It's wilful negligence at best and more likely conscious collaboration with a useful enemy.

In terms of "collaboration" the Russians would have wanted their comrade Corbyn to win the 2017 and 2019 GE. So the potential beneficiaries of turning a blind eye vary by election.

This probably influences a lot of their decisions. It's certainly a higher priority for them then actually governing.
