Depends on their goal. If they wanted out of the forces as quick as possible and didn't care about their reputation it might make sense.

I suspect the most likely reasons involve poorly reasoned decisions.

Decades before our protagonist was a sperm in his father's ball sack...

Countries have been selling weapons to other countries that some disagree with.

You know this -even you if are a half wit.

You join up - you serve. ( You take the money and we all really hope you are never really needed. )

Are we still allowed firing squads?

He’ll have plenty of time to figure out if it was dumb or not when he’s inside Colchester for 6 months.

Phase 1 lesson this, dont do anything to bring the Army into disrepute.

By wearing his uniform he's making a statement. One that'll get him in the st most likely.

Foolish.

Joined in 2017, so really should've been well aware that this has been happening for a lot longer than 3 years....

3 years served and given his unit he would have probably been vetted to a high level.

Someone is not doing their job properly.

Diddy.
The right or wrongs don't matter. The armed forces should be politically neutral.

I'm no doubt in todays army he will probably end up with a promotion and a pat on the back.

Say you like things like the song rule Britannia then you might get kicked out.

“We don’t know where Ahmed is now but I suspect he’s in custody at his unit which is a signals or electronic warfare regiment based in Pembrokeshire, Wales. If he’s been charged he will await some kind of court martial.”

So he's at Cawdor Barracks then, that used to be RAF Brawdy near Haverfordwest. Why didn't they just say that

So if you are asked to do something which is immoral/illegal (or you see something) do you just do it?

It sounds a lot like the “Only following orders” argument used by the Nazis tbh

As long as it isn’t contrary to military law, or applicable R.O.E, then yes. That’s what being in the military is about. You follow orders, don’t argue / question them.

Unless he’s personally asked to load boxes of arms onto transport planes I can’t see what he’s complaining about. He’s not actually doing something immoral or illegal.

He’s in the army which as far as I’m aware doesn’t set government foreign policy.

If he’s on a battlefield and is instructed to shoot a civilian then that’s the time to get the placards out. Until then do the job you’re paid for or leave.

What is illegal/immoral about selling arms to a friendly nation?
