I’m surprised this isn’t a thread, yet. Maybe I missed it. Apparently he’s upset they didn’t make as big a deal about his character as Adam Drivers and Ridley. And the hair lady had no experiences with his type.

The guy just ended his career.

I don’t know why people keep doing this.
Surely he should be thankful. Now noone will touch him.

Nick cannon had an outburst a while ago - believe what you want to believe and think what you want but if you have a career in the public eye make sure you think before you let your views out in public.

Edited because I got outed as a posh pervert.
I am not posh.

It wasn't Disney being racist. It was Disney having an incompetent strategy for the writing of the story and they didn't know what to do with any of the characters so they focused on the main 2.

I imagine this is blown out of all context but won’t do him any favours. It’s nothing new that actors playing second tier characters would prefer to be the main star. Playing the race card is pathetic especially when you’ve just made a fortune from them.

I'm amazed he is so chippy given that he only got the role in the first place because he is black.

I have only seen 2 of the Star Wars sequels (Episodes 7 and 8), but thought both were pretty st. All of the characters were pretty forgettable.

I can see where he's coming from, but he seems to be overlooking the not insignificant point that the second of the Star Wars sequels was such a nuclear wet-st bomb of a movie that it took considerable skill to bring it to any ending at all.

His character should really have died in the second movie, which would have given him a meaningful if cliched story arc. Instead they saved him for the most utterly pointles and st of reasons that... aaaagh, that movie was so bad!

Actors are wasted in movies more often than not, I imagine.

I found it odd that his character had such a minor role in subsequent films, however I feel it was due to the desire to “make the force female” rather than racism. Positive discrimination?

That and they wanted to appeal to China.

I'm not sure if he's right or wrong but couldn't the guy that played Po Dameron also make the same sort of complaint? The film did go on to focus on Rey and Kylo Ren but then Star Wars has been about jedis and the force for most of its existence so I'm not surprised.

yes

The character was set up well in the first movie and then given a silly side quest for something to do in the second.

Don't mistake poor writing for racism would have been my suggestion to him.

Dragged from obscurity. Now believes his own hype. Thinks he's an A-lister. Thinks people want to hear what he has to say. Plays the race card because a films focus was (shock horror) on the main characters.

His career will be a short one, I fear. I doubt anyone will miss him.

They also removed him from the Chinese posters. But we don't talk about other races being racist, that's too uncomfortable.

.
In the first movie he was one of the main characters and he would reasonably have had every expectation that would continue.

The problem was that the second movie was written and directed by someone who had little interest in telling a coherent story, or developing the themes from the first movie, but just wanted to trample on the brand and promote an extreme feminist agenda. His character became a casualty in that process, though less so than Luke.
