Charles Darwin next on the chopping block

The Natural History Museum will become the latest institution to review it’s collections after an audit warned its Charles Darwin exhibitions could be seen as “offensive”.
An internal review, sanctioned in the wake of the Black Lives Matter protests, has led to an audit into some rooms, statues, and collected items that could potentially cause offence.
It warns that collections which some may find “problematic” could include specimens gathered by Darwin, whose voyage to the Galapagos Island on HMS Beagle was cited by a curator as one of Britain’s many “colonialist scientific expeditions”.
Never mind Covid-19 or Brexit, if this sort of thing continues we will all be back living in caves when all science and scientists have been "cancelled".An internal review, sanctioned in the wake of the Black Lives Matter protests, has led to an audit into some rooms, statues, and collected items that could potentially cause offence.

If these idiots think collecting specimems is colonial or explotative or racist they are in the wrong job. Easily fixed then.
The voyage of the Beagle was primarily concerned with surveying the South America coasts. As for the colonial hand wringers I believe South America was colonised by the mainly by the Spanish. Not our problem or fault.

Black people in the UK want systemic change so that they are not discriminated against, so that they do not deal with racial profiling, and being disproportionately more likely to be the victims of police brutality.
But thats been forgotten, and its all about whether stuff is "offensive" or not. Lets "lefty liberal" types believe they're doing something to fix systemic racism without doing anything to fix systemic racism, and lets the "right wing racist" types have something to rally around that isn't an outspoken opinion that system racism is perfectly acceptable, even though that's what they think.

Apart from the idiots that support creationism, who is offended by evolution and Darwin? Some stuffed animals are standard for any museum
Evolution is an obvious target for radical egalitarians. If you accept evolution and you accept that it applies to homo sapiens as well as other living creatures you could be led to some disturbing conclusions.kowalski655 said:

The medieval Catholic church did this stuff very well. Nowadays we don't burn heretics: we just mob them on social media. Is that evolution? Not sure what Darwin would have made of it.

Darwin would have understood it immediately. He would have made an analogy with the spread of a virus, he may have even named them memes. He would have recognised that social media is a fast and powerful vector for these viruses. And probably he would have considered that teaching critical thinking would cure most people.Rivenink said:

If you accept evolution and you accept that it applies to homo sapiens as well as other living creatures you could be led to some disturbing conclusions. One reason for rejecting the evolutionary hypothesis, but that doesn't make Darwin a racist, just wrong.

Creationism has yet to be disproved, however if one considers evolution a fact, and accepts that each each race is different, one reaches the disturbing conclusion that some are further along the evolutionary path than others.

Or you could just accept that you've fundamentally misunderstood the basic concept of evolution by natural selection. Just a thought. One reason for rejecting the evolutionary hypothesis, but that doesn't make Darwin a racist, just wrong.

I don't think you can even define race such that it encompasses all humans. One reason for rejecting the evolutionary hypothesis, but that doesn't make Darwin a racist, just wrong.
Africa has the highest genetic diversity of any continent, IIRC. There would presumably have to be quite a few races present in Africa?

Wrong. Homo Sapiens are equally far along the evolutionary 'path'. That doesnt mean that all groups of people have had identical selection pressures. One reason for rejecting the evolutionary hypothesis, but that doesn't make Darwin a racist, just wrong.
