Very unfortunate but not seriously injured so he was very lucky.

The fly called in an airstrike....
I have one of these swatters, an old one battered and taped due to exhuberent smashing from what was Maplins.
You can upgrade them to turn them into a bit more of a thumper by up-ending a resistor across the output of the high voltage capacitor.
That capacitor dumps the charge across the grid when some unfortunate fly, finger, what have you comes into contact with the grid.
The resistor bleeds off charge to discharge the cap but also lowers the output volts a tad.
Of course the best way to upgrade is to add in extra capacitors in parallel, have fun.....

I bought one after having a go around my mates on one, his batteries must be low or something, as you could bounce it off the heel of your hand and it clicked and you got a bit of a tingle. With new batteries in, tried it with mine brand new and nearly blew my bloody arm off, couldn't feel my fingers for 10 mins.

I have had a wasp big enough though that I swatted it, gave it a good 15 sec of juice thinking it was dead, shook it's head and flew off, he was a big bugger mind.
