A woman has been arrested with 1.9 million in cash at Heathrow airport on trip to Dubai !!

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8825837/B...

she will appear in court in the UK over money laundering ......guessing cash will be seized ..........The crazy thing is had she been caught in Dubai and it is one of the last places you want to be caught exceeding the limit which is 100,000 dirhams (20k ) 10 year jail term

What?! How did she think that was ever going to work? 5 suitcases, all stuffed with money, like they would ever go through undetected.

It all seems bizarrely amateurish for such a huge amount of cash.

You would have thought crims dealing with such large amounts would have much more sophisticated ways of laundering it, or at the very least make several trips carrying smaller amounts with less chance of detection.

And yet Dubai is one of the money laundering capitals of the world so one assumes their money laundering laws just aren’t enforced.

We still have drug mules going through airports using some pretty crude methods so assume it’s the same with laundered cash - for every person that is caught several more will get through successfully. If it didn’t work more often than not then they wouldn’t attempt it.

She was probably worried that she might only get a space in the short stay car park.

Even so £2million is a lot to bet on one courier Five identical bag images on the x-Ray with none of the usual variations expected with holiday clobber, e.g. clothes, shoes etc would cause some interest. Just what you don't want!

Last year someone was caught trying to take £1.5 million from Stansted to Dubai.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6961141/M...

In 2018 someone was caught with gold bars worth £750k in his hand luggage (at Manchester with a ticket to Dubai).

How do airport checks work with private jet?

As surely if you have £1.9m, you can hire a private plane.

So just what is it about taking dirty money to Dubai to launder it that can't be done in the good ol' UK?

I thought the UK was supposed to be the money laundering capital of the world?
Or is that something else we've now become rubbish at?

Maybe she can’t buy ‘artwork’ at the moment to hide it? Are the galleries and auctions for the pretentious st closed due to Covid?

Normally the arabs people who come over from Dubai for the summer would be taking the money back with them hidden in gold Lamborghinis. But due to Covid they didn't come this year wink

Yep all those gold 'coloured' badges, gear levers, brake callipers, alloys wheels, interior trim and exhaust systems have a bit more gold in them than usual.

Just don't stand too close to one in case one of the tyres blows under all that pressure.
