So here's our T&T scenario.

Wife and I both test positive Tuesday. Wife's symptoms started before mine so we each have 10 days isolation from start of symptoms.

So I get a T&T call today. All very simple & straightforward. But they asked for phone number & email of anyone I had been in contact with. Gave them wife's details but explained that she had also tested positive and was waiting a T&T call. End result is it's confirmed I need to isolate 10 days from start of symptoms.

Then wife receives email from T&T. This is not as a result of her positive test. This is a result of being named as a contact on my T&T call. This email tells her to isolate for 14 days and to contact them with further details.

Then wife received T&T phone call triggered by her positive test. Nice chat with a tracer and gets confirmed that she needs to isolate 10 days from symptoms starting.

Wife has ignored the interim email she received.

Is it just me or is this confusing - surely if you've named a contact who has already tested positive and is due a T&T call, then that person does not need to have a separate tracing email. Especially one that tells them to isolate for longer than they need to.

Also I'm sure this will now be recorded in the weekly stats as failed to reach contact - even though she has received it and is ignoring it.

Be interesting to know if others have had the same issue and whether these failed contacts could form a substantial number.

Why would you list your wife when you know she has tested positive and know she will be isolating anyway.....?

Because the question was who do you share your house with. And I did say she had tested positive and was waiting a call.

I would assume the software is fairly straightforward. Enter a certain number of details, press enter and things get done.

If there was a box for every eventuality, it would increase the workload exponentially. As it is, the information has got through.

Yep - that's been reported elsewhere too. Now imagine student accommodation with 20+ people and how much resource is wasted contacting the same people time and time again.

It's no wonder T&T is failing in some areas.

My only experience with track and trace is that it kinda misses the point of a 10 / 14 day isolation if they only contact you over a month after the relevant point of contact rolleyes

I had another call from them today as they identified me again as a contact through my wife's talk with them yesterday. They were very good about it and discontinued the call. From anecdotes I thought they would force through the who 15 minute script again.

It does seem odd that 2 people both testing positive and having contact only with each other will generate 4 calls. As others have said people with multiple contacts and positive tests must get exponentially more calls.

Student son in a houseshare of 8, all positive and minor symptoms. Took a week for T&T to start contacting them and they have all been bombarded non stop with calls, presumably as they are all on each others' contact lists!

Mental. And broken. And pointless. And ruinously expensive!

Should be straightforward to fix this - there's a remove duplicates function smile

I know a few people who work in the 101 and 999 call centres and they have all been briefed to tell people to ignore notifications if the app says they have been in contact with someone positive as the put simply the app isn't fit for purpose.
