I was really shocked to hear the accusations on Good Morning this morning and surprised it has not had more of an airing.

If even half of it is true it's has potential for some very serious consequences.

Has it simply been pushed aside by the US elections or was it 'out there' previously - genuinely surprised at the lack of exposure, or have I simply missed it?

The Daily Mail has been all over it for a week or two. But their main is issue is not Bashir himself but that he was working for the BBC.

THE BBC!!!

This is going to get very nasty very quickly, and quite rightly if the allegations are true.

In fact The Guardian seems to have given more coverage (and credence) than any other paper from what I can see

Short answer is that he lied (and fabricated 'evidence' of those lies) of things like Charles having an affair with Prince William's nanny, and the William was wearing a listening device to spy on Diana, that kind of thing to fuel her paranoia and get her to do the interview.

I think basically Diana was tricked into giving him that explosive "3 of us in this marriage" interview by false and mocked up documents that made it look like certain people were out to get her, and had betrayed her, when they hadn't.

And he 100% did use faked bank documents to persuade her, he admitted as such afterwards and seems to have been quietly disciplined by the BBC and had it nicely swept under the carpet.

And paid a counterfeiter to create a fake bank statement showing that palace employees were taking bribes to spill gossip on Diana

Thought the GMB piece was a tad ott. They stated that had she not done the Bashir interview she would not have been forced to divorce Charles when she did and she would have still had her HRH title/royal protection officers which would have meant she’d not have got into that car with Dodi.

"There is a very dark cloud hanging over BBC journalism," Lord Grade told Radio 4's World at One programme on Monday.
The issue is, why did it take Grade so long to realise the sunlight wasn't there? It's been cloudy for years,

Beeb apologists still don't realise.

Perhaps the fact that he is currently gravely ill might be the reason why it hasn't really taken off as a story the way it might otherwise have done?

Gravely ill? He was photographed out getting a takeaway the other night.

The way they were talking about the other night I thought he was on his death bed.

It's a Daily Mail link, but if there is any truth in some of the other allegations (Diana aside) in this article that is a massive can of worms that will be opened.

The BBC is still on notice and this should help move things along.

He’s recovering from heart bypass surgery (and covid) however he’s well enough to be walking around London when he wants to.
