Afternoon all,

I just found this rather interesting article which appears to have been written with the express goal of putting the risk of Covid death into context for petrol heads! biggrin

They set out to determine the probability of dying of Covid if you're under the age of 65..... So far, so what? Lots of people have done that! What they've done differently is to then equate that to the risk of dying in a car crash by showing the number of miles you'd have to drive on average every day to have the same chance of it killing you as Covid, with the higher distance equating to a higher risk of Covid killing you.

The results are quite fascinating!

In the UK, Covid is as likely to kill you as driving 141 miles every day, compared to just 55 miles in France, for example. Whilst this does mean that you're more likely to have died of Covid here, it is exacerbated though by that fact that our roads are almost twice as safe as French ones! hehe

Overall, I think it just does a really good job of showing you just how bloody unlikely you are to have died of Covid! The same risk as a 70 mile each way commute? I can imagine worse!
