Bit right wing I’m afraid but might work.

Send all the French trucks to the back of the queue. So they won’t get back until everything else is cleared. Job done?

It’s Macron that’s caused this sinkers give him some back!

Daft and pretty heartless. What’s a French truck? One with French plates? One with a French driver? One where the owning company is French?

The affected drivers are *people*, and we need to work as quickly as possible in partnership with the French (after all, a border has two sides). Not play silly political games.

This whole sorry spectacle isn’t covering anyone in glory. Let’s not make it worse.

And they’ll do the same for the British lorries in France trying to get here then.

Or just refuse to accept British trucks for another 48 hours.

Any escalation in the silliness from here is just lose:lose.

No more silliness. Build a bridge to Ostend.

Here's a solution: Lufthansa airlifts food to the UK amid lorry chaos https://www.bbc.com/news/business-55424448

Done completely without hate.

This is the thing. It's crazy politics exchanging blows while real people's lives are the victims.

easy option, private plane for all the drivers after a test, we'll tell you when to come back to pick the truck up.

Or alternatively, go out of our way to get them home first and make a big point of it in order to show that we aren't the s lots of the rest of the Worlds make us out to be. Whilst pointing out, with great gusto that this is totally the doing of Macron and was completely unnecessary.

There's a lot to be said for this.

Kill them with kindness.

(not the truckers.)

How about a large flotilla of little ships from Dunkirk to bring them home for Christmas.

Build really good facilities. Feed them well, good showers with fresh towels and nice shower gel, provide free wifi, a truck wash. Treat them like human beings so when they go away they think, "well, it was a pain in the arse but the Brits looked after us"

I'd go with that. We're going to be doing business with the EU long into the future, if we punish French transport companies with lengthy delays they'll just pass costs back to UK consumers.

Winning in this scenario is simple, just vaccinate the UK population long before France does. UK companies will have a competitive advantage being able to ship goods to, from and within countries with slow rollout strategies. On the other hand if the UK stuffs this up it will just hand that advantage to another country.
