I know there are plenty of Covid related topics, but this one is pretty specific.
If one was keen to spend some time away from it all, what would be a best place?
I don't care about number of cases there, How bad is the government etc.

Basically life in which country looks today like it did a year ago?
I know of Florida and to a degree Sweden. Anything else? Do African countries have lockdowns, mask orders etc? Ukraine? Russia? Post Soviet Republics?

Friend is just back from Dubai, although masks are mandated when out and about, all is normal in the resorts/around the pools.

Do need a clear test to go and another on arrival. One of the only places to go where it's going to be warm too

They aren't allowing visitors/tourists at the moment.

Besides that, having visited the place 2 years ago, it's not somewhere I would choose for a week long holiday.

I guess it's fine if you are a TT fan and go for that, but for everyone else, there isn't a lot going on and not massive amounts to see and do.

Echoing above.

Cousin and husband just flown back from Dubai where they live. Had to have a negative test first.

Virtually no security at airport, just breezed through

They are fly back in a few weeks and looking forward to it....can't believe the restrictions we are under

Speaking for a post soviet republic where I work......... you can’t get in for a start as the borders are basically closed, without special permission. Once in things are fairly normal except the bars & restaurants have to close at 10pm.

I am in Dubai now. It’s fairly normal apart from some masks. If schools get cancelled I am quitting my contract job and not returning till the spring.

Sick of the UK approach to it and general air of depression there.

Here in Western Australia, things are pretty normal and have been for many months. We are used to being the most geographically isolated city in the world and our isolation has been our biggest defence against covid.

It’s been difficult to travel inter-state this year amd the international borders have been shut for a long while, but if you don’t work in tourism you’d be hard pressed to tel the difference between now and pre-covid

The west Australia budget returned a surplus this year despite massive infrastructure spending.

We consider ourselves to be very lucky.

Here’s a Christmas carol concert we attended recently. The same, if not busier than usual:

I think NZ and Oz have really capitalised on their isolation. Must be a bit strange though!

Where as we have done the opposite. Kept our airports open, without ANY intervention to prevent covid risks arriving, not even education once they've arrived.

We could have taken massive steps to prevent this taking over our country - and chose not to.

I'm keeping an eye on Germany as I'm planning on going to Essen early April.

Be surprised if it goes ahead but tickets are available.

Shall wait until the week before to book a flight, though.

Parts of Florida still need masks worn inside and out.

Guernsey has no restrictions in place but you would have to isolate on arrival

Not possible to get into though unless living there already for the most part (and even Australian citizens have had a lot of trouble getting back).

I thought Belarus had next to no restrictions at all. Not sure if they've changed the approach or if it's somewhere you'd want to visit even if there were no restrictions...
