Good idea or is it now just a patronising and meaningless act?

Also it’s a bit strange how this lady seems to think she owns the whole concept and can decide when it starts and stops.

Didn't last time, won't this time; just more virtue signalling nonsense.

They don't deserve it.

It is the NHS's inability to cope that has caused the lockdown.

Teachers round here deserve their P45, or at best the clap, not this sort of clap.

Not the knobheads ignoring distancing advice and causing higher levels of infection then.

NHS management perhaps - doctors, nurses, carers etc deserve our gratitude imo - don’t think it should be in the form of doorstep clapping though. Seems like such a pointless exercise.

I think those working in the system do deserve it, they are in the main not responsible for the chronic lack of planning/management/misinformation. However, any show of support for them of this type risks being interpreted for support for the system, hence I'll give it a swerve this time.

They should take 5 minutes off from preparing dance videos/collecting free stuff to clap us. After all, we're the ones making all these sacrifices to protect them from being seen for the shambles they are.

I know far too many people with relatives who work for the NHS that haven't been in for months if not the whole year due to a variety of reasons.

Wife is a teacher (in school today) who thinks half the fkers should be sacked.

They own a very large part of this.

They can FRO.

How about all the people keeping your gas and electricity flowing?

My message - "Get on with your job."

ETA: Most I have encountered (son has condition that needs regular attendance) could do with looking at their own health as many are obese!

Against some some extremely stiff competition, and despite the majority of 2021 left to run, that definitely wins the dumbest post of 2021.

Feels as much an empty gesture as taking the knee at football matches. I'll continue to show my support in more meaningful ways.

Again, you're taking about people who mostly work within a system where they don't make the rules. Like most people I have many friends and family members working hard in teaching / healthcare roles. They are as frustrated and we are. there are always exceptions, but they are not the rule, it's no more their fault than it is ours.
