Surely this is over stepping it?

Isnt the rule that you're allowed to meet up with one other person outdoors to avoid going bonkers?

It's an absolute disgrace the way the police are acting here.

You might say the laws are bonkers but the police are only doing their jobs.

Weather permitting, I plan on a morning's fishing next week and I will need to drive to a river, about 20 miles or so from home. I will also have a flask and a few sandwiches.

Is it the clink for me?

Seems tame compared to what Police Scotland seem to be getting up to. Derbyshire don't seem to have a big arse covering propaganda operation set up either.

Common sense really and the location they visited was quiet for a reason - everyone else gets it expect them.

It's not the law, so they aren't doing their job.

I do my very best to stick to the spirit as well as the letter of the law/rules, but plod are taking the mickey here.

Every time I read about things like this, my respect for the authorities goes down a little bit more. Maybe they should have to pass a regular IQ and commonsense test before they are allowed out on the street.

What laws have they broken ?

Clue; guidance is not law.

They weren’t arrested, but the penalty notices sound like nonsense that wouldn’t stand up in court.

Random guess is they deemed it a "picnic" which isn't allowed, as I'm struggling to see how they could impose a fine.

Derbyshire again, get the drones out!

Their job is to enforce the law not make it up. They weren't breaking the law.

The police barely have the respect of the public, this really is not helping their case with large parts of the generally law abiding public. Hot drink as a picnic, c’mon.

It's Derbyshire - again. They totally overstepped the mark on lockdown 1.
How can they issue penalty fines when it's not against a law?

The disgraceful part is their only option to appeal is a court appearance. If unsuccessful this lands them with a criminal record and affects many aspects of their lives.

True, but

a) It will never get to court.
b) Let's say it did, at which point the case will be thrown about because they have not broken any laws.

It's a pain having to go to court and contest this though, isn't it ?

Maybe it would be a good idea for Derbyshire Police to sort their st out and stop acting unlawfully ?

"Spirit of lockdown" means jack st. I despair.

Usual caveat applies - if this is what actually happened.
