Where do you look for work after that?

Will they still be able to claim their pension when the time comes?

Yes, why not ? Would you lose any pension you had contributed to if you were sacked from your job ?

Emigrate to the USA and join the Police over there.

Damn right. Why should being nasty evil bds prevent them from enjoying the perks of the job they were sacked from?

The two are entirely separate things. They've been sacked but they will be entited to the years pension they've accrued to date because they paid into the scheme.
That will be deferred until at least the age of 60. This pension forefeiture thing is often trotted out on here and I'm not sure why people think the police should automatically lose theirs. Nobody else would.

The Pensiin Regs do provide for it (forfeiture in part or in full) but that is in very limited circumstances and it very rarely happens (I've never known it to happen).

Thanks, I saw a piece on that unit in Basingstoke in a newspaper a few weeks ago.

See the comment below the article in the link. If it's correct the officers didn't experience the full extent of the law.

If everyone in the UK were covertly recorded, and their actions and speech recorded 24/7, without their knowledge over a period of a few months , everyone of us at some point, would get sacked or or sued.

Look on here on a daily basis and you're not that far away.

Is it really that surprising that people will speak like that if nobody picks them up on it and they think they can get away with it because they're in like-minded company because nobody picks them up on it?

So the police use unpaid Constables, called Specials, and volunteers to do all sorts of admin, support and community service roles while paid 'professional' officers conduct themselves like that in their workplaces while being paid by the taxpayer?

Seems those officers were well overdue a reality check. They're not the only officers behaving like the police is their own family firm.

Impossible to judge really without context. Yes homophobia racism etc are horrible things that can cause great offence and worse. Also though lots of people have pretty broad senses of humour or dark humour whatever you want to call it. If you were to record me and my friends having some banter (ripping the piss out of each other) it could well sound pretty horrific and cruel, it’s not, we’re just a bit sick :big grin: all depends on the situation and context.

Because it’s law. You can’t sack someone and take their pension!
