Anyone else rather just die of the fking thing than live like this? I haven't got it, haven't had it, don't feel threatened by it, and am not worried about the outcome if I do get it. My two best friends caught it last week, she felt rough for 2 days and is ok again now, he ( diagnosed with Crohns last year, 9 hour op in Sept and now wears a stoma ) said he had a cough, a headache, watched some Netflix and felt better the next day. My 80 year old neighbours have had it ( he's got the unhealthiest diet of anyone I've ever met, a stomach the size of the Greek national debt, and a history of shocking medical near death experiences ) and have both come through it without any serious lasting effects.

Yet I'm living like a hermit, can't do anything except work ( just as well as I don't qualify for furlough). I have private health care, but help subsidise an inefficient system I don't need, which seemingly contributes to the issues at hand by causing 30% of the illness when you are admitted for unrelated issues, and am absolutely sick and tired of being lied to by the Govt about the statistics and what constitutes " law ". Apparently, according to public sources today, they aren't telling us how well the vaccine is working because they would rather we were still all terrified to leave the house. Life ( the irony ) has become a pointless existence.

Just to rub salt into the wound, my wife now informs me Newcastle United are on TV tomorrow night getting beaten by Aston Villa and she wants to watch it. I'd rather run face first into a spinning propellor or spend a day locked in a phone box full of wasps, but for the sake of matrimonial harmony, have agreed to murder her immediately after we go a goal down!

I had a look through PH today and didn't feel there had been enough controversy, so I've dealt with that that now!

If you haven't been given a reason to be outraged or had a contrary opinion to respond to, read this and fill yer boots. I'm feeling strong!

Not easy !! It has killed a lot of people
The vast majority old , infirm or both
I think the biggest issue is the government’s
Woeful attitude to reinforcing the health services
When they knew there was a significant risk of a second spike , so now we have lock downs rather than care ..
I worry for all the mental illness and economic damage victims ,
I just hope the Jab works and SAGE stops being so mindlessly risk averse....

You ok hun?

I think everyones feeling abit pissed off about the whole thing.

Incompetence from Boris and his cabinet of dimwits are why we're locked in. If they'd taken it seriously last February, closed the borders and aggressively contact traced and quarantined anyone who might have been in contact with the first infected in the UK, like many Asian countries did, we might have had a chance at living pretty normal lives.

I won't be forgiving them.

Yes. It was pretty tongue in cheek. I think it's important to have an outlet. Currently this place is it. Not being able to see anyone is one thing but having Newcastle as my home team is a step too far with regard to keeping it all in! laugh

OP Just go out and lick some door handles if you really want it.

Personally having just had it, its not the walk in the park i was expecting. Oh, am 46 and fit with no underlying conditions of relevance.

I hear you but rather than starting a new thread you'll find like minded thinking under 'cure worse than the disease'.

Have you seen/listened to Neil Oliver's recent contribution on Talk Radio? It's on youtube and pretty much sums up my thoughts. I'm definitely not a covid denier - it's real and its horrible. However I'm pissed off with the mainstream media narrative and frustrated by the Govt's response. It's causing massive pain and misery to many to protect the few (relatively speaking).

That is your problem right there. Smoke 20 a day, eat no green veg or fruit, drink a least a can of monster a day and proudly boast you have not run this century like me and you will be fine.
it was just a headache. hehe

True, but it worked pretty well for other countries that did it.

Bugger, thought I was being an original thinker for a change!

I'm not a denier, although I've had that thrown at me by opposite view extremists. My reaction is that over reacting is as bad as not reacting. I'm pretty fortunate financially and mentally, but this is the first week where I've started to have groundhog day mentality. Being able to go and work is a godsend really, so is having a dog.

Now that we have the vaccines it makes sense until we gan get some approximation of herd immunity going, but yeah it's pretty wearing and has been handled in such a way that the government are unworthy of any assumed competence ever again.

. I'm pretty fed up of the UK to be honest. Incompetence and bluster in Westminster, incompetence and evasion of responsibility from the one-party state in Edinburgh and these are all the same guys we need to rely on to make a success out of Brexit of which I cant decide whether Covid has helped disguise or inflame the total traincrash of transition.

Trouble is, talking to friends from other countries doesn't fill me with much optimism about finding anywhere better. Some of my mates have had a fantastic 2020 with furloughs and relationships combining with house moves, etc. Others have been stuck in the same four walls slowly going insane and bankrupt.

I agree with the point about the relative few. I also was surprised at how ill my 11 yr old got. I guess its hard to work out "who" the relative few might be.

The impact of this is scary and heartbreaking. The impact to education and childrens social wellbeing. The cancer treatments pulled just out of reach of those who need them right now. The higher risk of going into hospital for diagnostics. The job losses. The increasing personal indebtedness. The huge transfer of wealth to the already wealthy that is taking place right now...

Have you considered switching your allegiance to Sunderland? Yes they are crap too, but no-one expects them to succeed, and after all, it's the hope that kills you. The Mackems have no hope, so might reduce your stress levels a bit. Just a thought.
