Very smart guy. From online bookshop to one of the richest people in the world.

Everything driven by:

• Focus on on the consumer (at almost all costs)
• Ambition, no half measures
• Cloud computing
• Data and analytics

No scandal. Just someone cognisant about when the right moment is to disrupt your own business.

Edit: if there is a scandal, then ok - but I think he is just ahead of the market, again.

Exactly, having made a fortune via much use of fossil fuels and exploitation in many ways, he might now try to lecture us lesser mortals about how to live our lives.

It doesn't surprise me at all. They ended up with a hell of a lot of spare computing capacity and turned it into a product which, rightly or wrongly, is extremely popular.
