Huge blaze on Dartmoor.

It’s obviously either arson or some kind of accident.

Seems really strange with the weather we’ve had. Anyone recall another big blaze at this time of year?

This chap says there were some as recently as 2017

“I was only thinking earlier of how dry the surface vegetation is with the recent hard frost. It’ll travel fast with this wind and a real danger of it thawing the peat. Back in 2017 there were a spate of fires in very similar conditions at this time of the year”

Numerous I believe, one in Cornwall & others in Scotland frown

Who’d have thought it in this weather.

Yes it's a bit smoky up here at the moment. Many are muirburns started by the crofters to clear the dead heather, but they get out of control.
