Mortar Up the Jacksie
Discussion
Incredible that this sort of behaviour still goes on and seems to be tolerated. Yet they wonder why recruit commit suicide or have mental breakdowns because of bullying and PTSD. Not sure getting a mortar round rammed up your arse is the best training method.

The disturbing video shows the troops spitting mouthfuls of lager at the airman’s backside.
His legs are then forced apart as the 4ft barrel of a mortar, which weighs 28lb, is lowered behind him.
The weapon’s ball-shaped socket is then used on the airman as his raucous colleagues slap his buttocks.
Under the Sexual Offences Act 2003, the act of ‘assault by penetration’ carries a custodial sentence of up to 19 years
I think it is pretty obvious what happened and the title is accurate

None of that says he was penetrated with it. "Lowered behind him", and "used on the airman" is implying, not stating he was penetrated. The line about assault by penetration is just a statement of fact about the law.His legs are then forced apart as the 4ft barrel of a mortar, which weighs 28lb, is lowered behind him.

Have you seen the ball socket on a mortar? If he was penetrated by that then he would be in hospital.

The article is carefully worded. If it IS what they are implying then it's not ok however I doubt it's even possible.
Being in the forces is often like being on a stag do with your mates, so I suspect it's more of a bunch of guys being t
ts.There was an incident at Coningsby in the late 80s when a RAF fireman (also under the regiment banner in those days!) had a CO2 cartridge from a water fire extinguisher shoved up his rusty sheriff’s badge, and split on his mates. Made the papers, and then fireman were verbally abused for years about it.
The ex-RAF aircraft electricians I work with are still called dog f***ers after one famous incident a few decades ago.

king disgusting attitude and all involved need to be thrown out, disbarred, whatever the term is."All just lads having a bit of fun" is absolutely no excuse for this kind of abuse and the mere fact the anybody could try to trivialise or normalise this kind of thing is simply abhorrent.

ts.A friend of mine was sexually assaulted on his stag do by his rugby club mates. It was clear many years after that he was upset by this and it had effected him and his mental health but he didn’t want to address it as he said it was “one of those things”.
This behaviour is not acceptable. It happens in rugby clubs, university sports clubs, military training and anywhere also that still holds idiotic ideas of the importance of “initiations”. It’s stupid and I hope every single one of the people involved in this gets punished to the full extent of the law.

If anyone wants to see why men are so upset about the accusations coming from some women at the moment, this is why. There is a small minority of people who think assault and sexual violence is a joke and a laugh. These same people are attacking men and women. Women are not generally the perpetrators of this behaviour, although they can still often be enablers and passive participants. Much abuse suffers by men is dismissed as “bants” and “just lads” and an assumption that it is just what happens and all are willing participants.

Most of my school friends were in a rugby club in their 20s, two of the things I was told happened (one an initiation, another a stag do) are forever burned into my mind.If they were things that were randomly sprung upon a member of the public out and about they would rightly be described as torture and sexual assault.
That it seems to be tolerated in certain industries/clubs is yet another significant difference between men and women, differences that many are seemingly trying to underplay in certain other threads right now.
