Absolutely awful but what struck me was how weird it is that this seems to be less prominent in the media than when it was a Seal confused

Awful. As a dog lover and previous responsible dog owner this stuff makes me so angry. Don’t have something if you can’t look after it properly. Ruins it for everyone else as always. I’d be an advocate of bringing back dog licences along with some sort of practical test to show you understand dogs and can be responsible.

Judging by the recommended video down the side, the Beeb would rather bang on about race and trans.

What a waste of life and a sad way to go. You've lived a long live of 80 years, in your garden minding your own business and some idiots dogs come along and maul you to death. Hopefully the dogs get put down and the court gives the owner (when they find out who) a heavy punishment

There is a certain type of owner that revels in having a menacing dog (although they often tell you how soft and gentle it is).

Horrific story, owner should be jailed in my opinion, he is responsible for his dogs.

But untill laws are changed, will keep happening.

To keep a car requires an annual mot, why not an annual home inspection for dogs that meet a criteria of potentially being dangerous.

And mandatory training before you can own one.

Poor woman.

I imagine because a woman near to death. As opposed to a child.

Plus the seal story was naturally more prominent as there was a photographer there capturing the dog, seal, attempted rescuers and owner.

With this story, no pics of owner, dogs or victim yet.

Nothing to do with London.

It is front page on the BBC news site but I'm pleased to say with no video of the woman being killed.

That would cover all dogs. All dogs are potentially dangerous, period.

Would be completely unenforceable, the kind of people who want to own a dangerous dog to perpetuate their hard man image are not going to turn up to training classes.

Quite.

No idea how you qualify "dangerous" either as presumably any dog has that potential.

It would depend on the penalties of getting caught?

Dog mauls someone and legit? Fine
Dog mauls someone and not legit? locked up for long time.

I am a pacifist, a teacher and am likely more left wing than most on this forum, and I own two Staffies and a bull mastiff, dogs many would consider 'dangerous'. I have had rescue Staffies for the last thirty years, no bad dogs, just bad owners.

Staffies were bred for blood sports, yet as a pacifist you choose that dog breed, with the many out there. Do you not see how that can be seen as a very mixed message.

Could a tiny sausage dog kill a old woman?
