France seems to have issues right now and this is just another attempt at distracting the attention away from their flailing and to yet again find a bogeyman and as usual it is the UK.

Sounds like a good excuse for another big Bojo infrastructure project. Let's lay some new power cables across Le Manche and supply them with them with good honest British electricity.

If these are our European friends thank God we left.

Next step stop relying on EU imports to keep the UK grid going and build gas or nuclear generation that works at night when the wind is not blowing.

Do we have any nuclear power plants that aren’t or won’t be operated by EDF? biggrin

Since when does the wind stop at night?

Are you confusing wind and solar?

No I am saying at night during periods of low wind we have neither wind or solar. So neither is a reliable way to cover base load.

In April this year after the first week wind (turquoise) produced very little. We depended on gas (orange) nuckear (grey) and solar (yellow) during the day.

https://gridwatch.co.uk/

Overnight 20/21st April gas and nuclear were producing 88%of demand at one point.

We left. Ergo they are no longer friends; now they are just neighbours. Neighbours about whom our Government and much of our media are very rude on a daily basis.

Go figure.

He must be confused by the promise of sunlit uplands where the sun never sets.

Funny how it is acceptable for our 'friends' to be petty about importing shellfish because they come from "third country waters" which they want to fish in...

A Bojo infrastructure project? The people of Jersey want their power supply protected in the coming weeks and months, not a £10million feasibility study in too extending the Northern Line to St. Helier.

I've never noticed this daily rudeness but have noticed much coming the opposite way, along with a large side order of aggression.

The EU have become de facto enemies of the UK as evidenced by their recent petty actions and tantrums. They are acting like a wronged party in a vexatious divorce - they should concentrate on jabbing their citizens rather than being obsessed with the UK.

Jersey was never "in" in the first place.
It is not in the UK and was never in the EU.

It is still there and available but that doesn't suit the headlines. I guess it is more expensive to run than buying from France.

Indeed, it is the end of a separate agreement.

I did read a power cable was laid from Jersey to France that cost 40 million quid - maybe we should have laid a longer one northwards.
