I thought this was already common knowledge but anything those with autism who are in the public eye can do to raise awareness is fine by me.

I think we should expect an imminent outrage of some sort from Musk, this announcement is just setting the scenery for his next libel/slander defence.

I hate stuff like this. You just know the awareness being raised will only be about high functioning Autism and how they just need acceptance and encouragement to succceed. Which is true and fantastic.

But will broad brush the rest of the spectrum which is a far cry from that. My son is about as severe as it gets all the parents at school hate the way the media forgets the rest of the spectrum. The amount of people that assume my son is a genius because he has autism is ridiculous, so many people have no clue on the thousands out there with very different problems.

Pretty much all the autistic children in my sons class will need 24 hour care everyday for the rest of there lives.

Most don’t talk about it because it’s a bit uncomfortable.

You don’t have to apologise for ranting as it’s a very valid point you raise.

My mother worked at a school which provided for severely autistic children and this was her view too.
