Hamas launch 150+ rockets at Tel Aviv in response to Israeli strikes in Gaza.

Riots now breaking out in the Israeli Arab town of Lod.

Iron dome system impressively intercepted 90% of the incoming rockets.

The start of full scale war in the region?

Both sides are childish... a bit like in Northern Ireland and so it's probably not going to resolve itself very easily.

It'll never be resolved. (Both situations).

I mean, if Tony Blair didn't fix peace in the Middle East, who can?

What an utterly tragic mess.

I find it utterly depressing that those who have the least say in this suffer the most.

That's fairly impressive.

I have heard that likened to hitting a bullet with a bullet.

As for full-scale war, probably unlikely. These things tend to flare up from time to time as Hamas needs to remind everyone it is there.

And the Israelis need to "mow the lawn", plus Netenyahu is facing yet another election in the near future and figures that giving the Palestinians a kicking will increase his popularity - after all, it's worked before.

Good post.

And as said up there ^^^ both sides are childish. It is a complicated problem that isn't going away anytime soon.

The apartheid Israelis (as per the UN report) once again carrying out ethnic cleansing on the Palestinians. Evicting people from their homes, taking their land, and violating their basic human rights.

The Palestinians react with their rockets and stones and they are the perpetrators

One mans freedom fighter is another mans terrorist as a person aptly put it.

The latest armed exchange began when Hamas launched dozens of missiles at Jerusalem in reprisal, it claimed, for clashes there between police and demonstrators.

Netanyahu might well exploit the situation but he didn't start the latest shooting war.

Very sad state of affairs ..

Full on humanitarian crisis that people are afraid to have a conversation about of fear of being called out anti-Semitic.

People need to understand that disagreeing with a state / government policy that advocates what’s going on the ground does not make one anti-Semitic... people need to separate the religion from the state.

Plenty of social media video coming out of harrowing scenes which quite frankly that anyone with an ounce of humanity can try to justify is beyond me and something my mind can’t comprehend. Plenty of blood on the hands of those of who are not willing to speak up or turn a blind eye or are happy support or fund it.

Someone recently asked me to look up in the dictionary the basic definition of colonialism and apartheid regime.. Not something that anyone should have to accept in the modern word regardless of religion.

This is not just religious issues but a humanitarian issue....

Er that is exactly what happened

Several days of clashes between Palestinians and Israeli police in Jerusalem exploded into full-on conflict Monday evening after Hamas launched dozens of rockets that it said were to avenge Israel’s actions in the contested holy city.

Lets not brush things under the carpet by simplifying that this was as basic as clashes between police and demonstrators . And to be fair the demonstrators are people with rocks and bottles vs full on armed to hilt military.

Just have a look on any of the social media sites to see what actually triggered this off...

As written on the bbc ..

‘Added to that in the past few weeks was heavy-handed Israeli policing of Palestinians during Ramadan, culminating with the use of CS gas and stun grenades inside al-Aqsa mosque, the holiest place for Muslims after Mecca and Medina. ‘

Hamas took the unusual step for them of issuing an ultimatum to Israel to remove its forces from the al-Aqsa compound and from Sheikh Jarrah, and then fired rockets at Jerusalem. ‘

Hamas would exploit any opportunity regardless of what time of year it is just as the Israelis (by Israelis, I mean their government) would also happily use these events to escalate things for political purposes.

People stick in the middle who’ll suffer most unfortunately.

Err, how does that back up assertions that Hamas unilaterally instigated the escalation, if the rocket salvo was in response to Israel destroying an apartment block?

Looks like this started (as do most things in the area) as protests in response to land, or in this case, properties, grabs.

Funny that the hundreds of millions of refugees since 1948 (around 500 million) including all the jews ethnically cleansed from the arab world haven't set themselves up on the borders of the countries firing missiles non stop into them.

The heavy handed policing was due to numerous israelis being attacked, but funny how such matters aren't reported .

One side used CS gas, the other responds with missiles. As usual, the innocent are sacrificed at the alter of politicians and activists who will kill anyone that doesn't appreciate how nice they are.

Lovely people.

I think it can only be resolved if the USA starts pressuring them and ceases to protect the Israeli's, both in word as in terms of money and weapons.
