On an observational note, it does seem that there's more people than I expected who want more moderation.

The problem is that we get returning banned trolls and multiple accounts who's sole aim seems to be trolling and arguing for the sake of it.

On balance, I agree with you, I'd rather have the above and a place where people can speak freely than over moderation.

It depends on whether your definition of speaking freely means being an argumentative faecal stain. Despite there being a rules sticky we still get some threads descending into blind shouting matches. I think we're losing sight of good faith.

Over the many years I've been on PH I've learnt some interesting things from the NP&E forum, and appreciated a different point of view. However I'm finding more and more I can't be bothered to sift through the dross to find the nuggets of gold, which is a shame as those titbits are what makes PH stand out in my opinion.
