Alternatively they could set up a plant based rival.

That is what someone committed to the concept would do.

I like meat, but would happily pay the same for same tasting plant food. Seems a win win really.

There is a debate to be had for eating less meat and fish than we do presently.

I think it unlikely that there is a case for eating zero meat and fish.

i see a world where meat is more valued and less mass produced, is that a bad thing?

If it tastes *exactly* the same and has the same nutritional benefits then I have no issue with this

Protestors blocking distribution centres I don’t agree with however

If you take their ideas to the extreme what do we do with all the animals we raise for meat ?

There isn’t a pecking order for domesticated land animals as there is in the sea. Other than us, the cow has few predators so do cows just roam all over the countryside, or do we just kill them all ??

Vegans obviously don’t drink milk or use leather

But it naturally does not taste the same, nor have the same nutritional value.

So they will 'process' it and meddle with it. And then everyone in 10 years may have cancer and other medical issues.

Would be very good for it to be less mass produced.

I know.

The point is that you can't make none meat taste like meat unless you meddle with it, and that will have new problems.

The company supplying the fake meat is called Beyond Meat, and this is what you'll be eating.

No one is closing down the livestock industry overnight. Beef cows typically raised for just a few years before being slaughtered, dairy maybe 6 years...

And then perhaps some breeds would stay as hobby animals, others for land management.

We should ensure that our food supply is nutritious and sustainable. Anything else is lunacy.

Monocrop vegetables grown in a cocktail of petrochemical fertilizer and toxic pesticides are neither of these things. They are very profitable though. You just need to find new land every few decades when you've killed the soil and drained the aquifers.
