Might well be a DDOS attack on a DNS provider
This one in 2016 was particularly embarrassing for the Swedish Government as it hosted both the government websites and the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency. Don't put all your eggs in one basket :-)

It looked like a configuration/system error on the CDN servers. We were loading a script from Worldpay's servers as part of our payment processing, and Worldpay was using Fastly as a CDN, so it took out our payments. I found it hosted on a different Worldpay server and managed to get it all running again, although it looks like Fastly fixed it soon after.
